With over a month to go until the supposed start of fall sports, Arizona Athletics is set to start bringing back their student athletes in the coming weeks!

For those that were looking for a little positivity from Arizona Athletics, well good news, the Wildcats are going to start bringing in their freshmen for football next week, and the freshmen basketball players the week after!

The news of that announcement came Wednesday afternoon, and it’s great timing as I’m sure we’re all still longing for that sense or normalcy.

The decision came after the school paused in bringing in additional student athletes just weeks prior. With the move, the incoming freshmen football players will be the first batch of athletes to return to campus, followed by Men’s and Women’s Basketball the following week.

Now granted it’s worth noting at this point that we have a long way to go until the 2020 Football season or 2020-21 Basketball seasons would begin, and nothing is guaranteed at this point, However, positives are a good thing, and this is a good thing to see.

To make things even sweeter, this news is coming after the school has seen no new positive tests the past two weeks *knocks on wood*.

As it stands, the season is still projected to start September 12 against Stanford, so now the challenge is for Kevin Sumlin as well as Strength and Conditioning Coach Brian Johnson to get the team ready for the start of the 2020 season.

How the school continues to take the necessary precautions is important, and it’ll be interesting to follow. Aside from my own selfish ambitions, I just hope we can indeed have a football season and basketball season happen on time. Beyond just their financial impact, I think the fans and players need it!
