With the Schooler brothers squaring off today in Lubbock, TX, their showdown brings a painful reminder to Arizona Football fans of what could have been.

2020, the year that not only brought the Schooler brothers together at Arizona Football, but also separated them just as quickly, as Covid severely impacted College Football.

As you may recall, it was just weeks ago that, brothers Colin Schooler and Brenden Schooler decided to transfer from Arizona. Their decision strictly stemming from the University and in particular the Pac-12, not playing football in 2020 as of 3-4 weeks ago.

Well, as fate would have it, Brenden and Colin would end up at separate schools, but would finally square off against each other at their new, respective schools.

Brenden already appeared with the Longhorns two weeks ago, as Texas beat UTEP 59-3. Brenden would finish the game with two catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Colin however, did not appear in the Red Raiders’ first game against Houston Baptist, and would actually have to still and wait a bit until seeing the field again.

Finally the long anticipated debut and match-up of the brothers happened on Saturday afternoon, as Texas and Texas Tech battled in Lubbock.

It was certainly a match-up that delivered for football hungry fans, as the two squads got into quite the bar burner that provided a lot of exciting plays and lots of scoring.

While Texas went on to win 63-56, the performance of the Schooler brothers brings painful reminder to Arizona Football fans of what could have been this year.

Brenden was believed to be a solid option in the receiver group, especially after putting up respectable numbers at Oregon previously. Unfortunately for us, he is doing it all in Texas, as he finished his day with seven catches for 58 yards and a touchdown, bringing up his total to nine catches 123 yards and two touchdowns on the season.

As for Colin, it was a very Colin-like performance, as the play making linebacker finished his day with seven tackles (six solo).
