We’re only but a few weeks away from the Arizona Basketball season, and already Christian Koloko is showing signs of early development.

The signs of a healthy program is always seeing signs of development from your players. For Arizona Basketball, that seems to be the case for sophomore big man, Christian Koloko.

One of the fan favorites from last year, Christian was the lanky big man that hailed from the talented Sierra Canyon High School in Southern California.

Originally a native of Cameroon, Koloko has only been playing basketball but a few years, and already he is showing signs of high upside and development as a player.

A four-star recruit in the class of 2019, Christian held offers from Arizona, Cal, Vanderbilt, Creighton, Harvard and Northwestern among others, before ultimately choosing the Cats.

Well, last year I’m sure didn’t quite go as he had hoped, playing behind freshman sensation Zeke Nnaji and Chase Jeter. However, Christian at least got some valuable minutes last year, averaging 2.3 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in 28 games played last season.

Well heading into this year, and the sophomore could have an even bigger role. Competing with incoming transfer Jordan Brown for minutes, it seems Christian is holding his own, and making a name for himself.

We already saw Brown dominate the first two weeks of practice, winning the coveted Gold Jersey in back-to-back weeks. Well, now it seems he may have some legitimate competition.

Making news via social media the other day was that Koloko in fact won the jersey this week!

Usually awarded to the player who impressed the most and had the best week of practice, this is a good sign for the program. Arizona needs multiple players to be able to step up this year, and with freshman Daniel Batcho being down the next few weeks, Christian could be one of those guys to step up.
