With Arizona Basketball down a few players to start the season, we breakdown what their roster and line-up could look like to start the year.

It has been a long off-season for the Arizona Basketball team but finally, the Wildcats are going to tip-off their 2020-21 season when they host Grambling State on Friday.

Already, we are off to an unfortunate start as the Wildcats saw their first game against NAU postponed, even worse is that the Cats will be without freshman guard Kerr Kriisa, freshman big man Daniel Batcho, and now Ira Lee will likely be out as he recovers from a concussion.

It is bad enough the Wildcats are replacing every starter from last years’ team, now they will have to scramble a little bit to accommodate and mitigate the losses the personnel losses they are seeing early on.

Without having seen the Wildcats scrimmage or play any exhibition games thus far, what we can mostly guess is an assumption and is based on what we saw last year, and have read from national media thus far.

First off, you have to expect that James Akinjo is starting at point guard. He is the quintessential leader for this in my opinion, and luckily for us, he is immediately eligible to play from day one this season, and his experience and leadership are going to be vital to the teams’ success.

Next to him will most likely be Jemarl Baker. A crafty and skilled guard who saw significant minutes last year, he is a veteran that saw some success despite playing banged up.

After that, you got to believe it will be either Dalen Terry or Ben Mathurin. Both freshmen, but both highly recruited and talented wings that fit Sean Miller’s system well. Assuming they are both physically and mentally ready, you have to believe it likely be one of those two that will be starting.

At forward, you would like to think it will likely be freshman Azoulas Tubelis who will get the nod here. Also, a highly regarded recruit coming in, Azoulas is a sturdy 6-feet-11-inches and 245 pounds, and on film, he looks the part. Let’s just hope that translates to the college game.

Lastly, it is apparent Jordan Brown will be our center. Based on his size, skillset, and collegiate experience, he will be the de facto center, but that is by no means a bad thing. I have a feeling Jordan will be one of Arizona’s better players this season. And by all accounts, we will need all the production we can get!

At Zona Zealots, we possess no knowledge of the actual line-up and this is just our best guess. Either way, we can’t wait to see basketball action finally! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
