Arizona Volleyball: David Rubio gifts fans great recruiting class
Arizona Volleyball coach Dave Rubio strikes again going into the heart of Southern California to add another strong piece to their 2021 class in Middle Blocker Nicole Briggs out of Chino, CA.
In volleyball, versatility and depth are never a bad thing, and Dave Rubio just scored yet again with another signing that will help Arizona Volleyball be a force at the net in the Fall 2021 and beyond with the official signing of Nicole Briggs on Thursday.
For fans of Wildcat Volleyball, we certainly seemed to have gotten an early gift for the Holiday season, as the Cats have now added Briggs. Having already secured a strong class, Briggs only adds to the excitement in Tucson.

While on the smaller side for a middle hitter, Briggs should bring some great versatility to the Wildcats Volleyball program, as she could likely slide between all three hitting positions on the court.
With Merle Weidt, China Rai Crouch, and Zyonna Fellows holding down the Middle for Arizona for the anticipated Spring season, Briggs joins Jennifer Wroblicky and Lauren Ware (who is currently coming off the bench for Adia Barnes and the Women’s Basketball team at the moment). Both are Middle Blocker options entering the fold for the Wildcats in the Fall.
One thing is for certain, and that is that coach Rubio will have plenty of options moving forward with the Wildcats. Between the last two loaded classes that he has brought in, he’ll be able to get very creative in how he deploys his roster, virtually allowing him to change systems when necessary on a set-by-set basis, which is a definite luxury for any coach.
Adding Briggs makes Rubio’s life that much easier as he works to bring the Wildcats to the Top of the Pac-12. Despite the 5-15 2019 conference record, Arizona was a better team than their record would indicate.
2021 feels like a fun time to crash some parties and go dancing, and the Wildcats Volleyball program sure looks like a hungry bunch ready to get back to dancing at the NCAA Tournament!
