PORTLAND, OR – Making his NBA debut after signing a 10-day contract, former Wildcat Brandon Williams shined with Portland in their loss to Dallas.

Seeing Wildcats succeed in their careers beyond Arizona is a great thing to witness, and for former Wildcat Brandon Williams, it is especially wonderful to see.

As we are all aware of by now, it is the adversity and obstacles that Williams has had to overcome in his career to get where he is.

From being a former high school basketball star to someone that battled injuries in college, he is finally beginning to reach the potential we knew he was capable of.

Just recently Brandon signed a G-League contract with the Winchester Knicks (the New York Knicks G-League affiliate), where he appeared in 10 games, averaging 17.7 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.1 rebounds.

Because of his success, and partly because of a few NBA teams being significantly impacted by COVID protocols, BWill then signed a 10-day contract with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Well, on Monday evening Brandon Williams made his long-awaited NBA Debut, and to our delight, our former Wildcat shined in his limited playing time.

Playing in Portland against the visiting Dallas Mavericks, things did not go particularly well for the Trail Blazers as they fell behind early in the first quarter, trailing 34-29 after the first 12 minutes played.

Dallas then extended their lead to 72-53 at halftime before cruising to the eventual 15-point win over the Trail Blazers.

However, the bigger story for us is the play of Williams. Finally getting his opportunity late in the fourth quarter, BWill came in and made the most of it.

Playing just seven minutes, the former Wildcat star finished his evening by scoring seven points on 2-2 shooting, including 3-5 from the charity stripe. Brandon would also have a +14 Box Plus/Minus rating.

Here are some highlights of Brandon in the Trail Blazers’ 132-117 loss.

It is hard to say what kind of impact Brandon will have from here on; however, we would be lying if we said we weren’t excited for him!
