Former Wildcat Brandon Williams signs two-year, two-way deal
Shortly after making his debut in the NBA, former Wildcat Brandon Williams cemented his future in the NBA/G-League, signing a two-year, two-way deal.
It is always great seeing former Wildcats succeed in their post-Arizona careers, but perhaps none have been more satisfying than watching Brandon Williams succeed.
A former star and Pac-12 All-Freshman selection in 2018-19 at the University of Arizona, Brandon had a bright future ahead of him, until knee injuries derailed his collegiate career.
Unfortunately, BWill had to sit his sophomore season and then decided to forego the 2020-21 season, instead, pursuing a professional basketball career.
After some time spent away from the game Brandon was finally signed to a team just a few months ago, as the former Wildcat made his debut with the Westchester Knicks (the G-League affiliate of the New York Knicks). And from there, it didn’t take long for him to quickly make an impact and prove his worth!
Playing in just a handful of games, BWill would earn a 10-day contract with the Portland Trailblazers in December, even making his NBA debut against the Dallas Mavericks.
Brandon would just seven minutes, scoring seven points on 2-2 shooting, including 3-5 from the charity stripe in the teams’ 132-117 loss. Unfortunately, he hasn’t had many opportunities since then.
Well, two months after making his NBA debut with the Portland Trailblazers, Brandon Williams has cemented his future in the NBA/G-League.’
Making news on Monday afternoon, it was announced that the former Wildcat guard signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Portland Trailblazers according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Brandon will be eligible for a little over half of Portland’s 82 regular-season games next season, potentially earning a salary of up to $462,629, half of the rookie minimum.
Playing in 13 games in the G-League, Brandon has more than proved his worth, averaging 22.8 points, 6.4 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game all while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from three.
Now 22, Williams has a bright future ahead of him, and with more opportunities to showcase himself, there’s no telling what’s in store for him!
