As Arizona Basketball takes on the long and agonizing off-season, the infamous transfer portal could solve a lot of answers for the Cats in 2022-23.

The long and agonizing off-season is finally here for Arizona Basketball, and now comes an important time in which we learn a lot about our Wildcats and what they have as they head into the 2022-23 season.

Coming into next year, overall, Arizona should return a competitive group as Bennedict Mathurin, and possibly even Christian Koloko are the only players leaving the roster as they head to the NBA.

And even with their potential absences for next year, the Wildcats still seemingly have enough pieces to garner plenty of preseason hype from the national media.

However, if Arizona wants to make yet another jump in 2022-23, head coach Tommy Lloyd may have to bring in another player or two to round out its roster.

And with not many options left in the recruiting class for 2022, those personnel answers could be solved by the transfer portal for Arizona Basketball.

As much as the all-too-famous transfer portal has hurt collegiate sports, it has also helped several teams and athletes immensely, and for 2022-23, let’s just be thankful that Arizona could stand to benefit here.

In the past week, there has been plenty of action, as several players have already put their names in the transfer portal. Whether it is guys seeking to play at a higher level, guys wanting to gain more exposure, etc. the Wildcats may be in a good position here.

Before the season began last year, Arizona was a bit of a mystery. No one knew how the Wildcats would look, what kind of offense they would run, etc. However, Lloyd’s first season was a success, and now there is a bit more tangibleness to sell potential recruits on.

Arizona has a great foundation to build off of in 2022-23, and all that may be missing at this point is another player or two, which again could be solved in the transfer portal.

Granted, there is a long way to go until next season; however, this should be a potentially exciting next couple of months for Arizona Basketball.
