It’s sad when someone loses their job, even sadder when it’s because they some serious issues. ZonaZealots sends well wishes to Former USC Coach Steve Sarkisian and hope he bounces back quickly.

As soon as the news broke at 1:45 p.m. today, the first thing Wildcats fans thought of was, ‘who will be USC’s next head coach?’ Every media outlet posted their thoughts on the subject and the reactions were hard to miss on Twitter.

More from Zona Zealots

We all saw this coming, everyone I guess besides USC Athletic Director Pat Haden, he absolutely should have gotten help for Steve Sarkisian after the Salute to Troy debacle. But he didn’t, and he let his head football coach fall apart in front of his team, the school, the fans and the world, he ended up firing his coach today.

One has to wonder if that was a self-preserving move. Although, if you talk to my cousin Jason, a huge Trojan fan who somehow knows everything before it happens at USC, he thinks Haden is the problem. Honestly, the Salute to Troy speech was a cry for help, a chance for intervention. I would have to agree with him.

It is what it is, and hopefully this move by USC will help Steve help himself. Put your feelings about sports aside, as a human it hurts to watch.

Arizona Head Coach Rich Rodriguez spoke about how he feels about Coach Sarkisian.

Former USC Head Coach and current Seattle Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carol spoke out, and we reiterate his sentiment, it breaks your heart. Sarkisian was Pete Carols assistant coach.

Formal USC Statement:

Media speaks up!

Who will be the next USC Coach? Or Athletic Director for that matter?

Um, no! They wish!

How about recruiting? Will this affect recruiting for USC? For other schools?

Arizona plays USC on November 7th in the Los Angeles Coliseum, and there is plenty of time to get their act together between then and now. The Pac-12 South is a crazy place at this point in the season. We wait for a Utah loss to help out other teams in the division and just to add some more spice to the Pac-12 South drama.

For now, Arizona should only be focused on the Colorado Buffaloes, and I am sure that’s what our football program is doing.
