Just when you think Arizona Football couldn’t have any more bad news, the hits keep on coming as a 2017 commitment is recovering from an injury sustained while on a recruiting visit.

Arizona Football commit, Malik Hausman is on the road to recovery despite suffering a torn ACL just a few months ago. The senior from Bishop Gorman high school has missed the entire 2016 season due to injury, but is on the mend.

Perhaps more unfortunate about the injury, and the fact that current and future Wildcats can’t seem to escape them, was that Hausman suffered this injury while on a recruiting visit to Arizona. He is recovering nicely and that’s a testament to his character and drive to bring success to the Arizona Football team.

While the bizarre incident happened back in July, it was initially reported via social media that Hausman was hit by a car. Early indication then was that the accident wasn’t that serious.

To be honest, I think Hausman is just quite fortunate the incident he endured wasn’t more severe. Thanks to the quick reaction of fellow commit, Tony Fields Jr., he pushed Hausman out of the way of the speeding vehicle. Hero!

More from Football Recruiting

The car had barely clipped him, but obviously could have been a lot worse, had it not been for the instincts of Fields Jr. Following the incident, the driver tried to flee the scene, but was ultimately tracked down by the recruits and player-hosts that were with Hausman and Fields.

Prior to his visit, Hausman had committed to the Wildcats back in June, despite the offers from Boise State, UNLV, Hawaii and others. He has been solid with his commitment since then.

Fast forward to now, and while Hausman was okay then, and is ultimately ok now, he did however suffer an ACL tear that would cause him to miss his entire senior year at Bishop Gorman. A powerhouse high school program.

A crucial piece to the Gael’s stout defense that features a number of division one football players, his presence is certainly missed. Despite not playing, he has still has been very involved with his team, allowing him to better understand the game, as well as his role.

Nearly four months passed, and it appears Hausman is doing well. He is still expected to be with the Wildcats next season, and will have the ability to compete for early playing time. After all, Arizona could use a bit more help currently.

Ironically enough, he could possibly be playing alongside Fields, a fellow Nevada recruit, who may have saved Hausman from an even worse fate.

Here is a small preview of what the Wildcats can look forward to from the talented freshman-to-be:
