Arizona Football: Alumni Quarterback Nick Foles Traded to Rams

Arizona Football: Alumni and Philadelphia Quarterback  Nick Foles was traded today by Ex-Oregon’s Chip Kelly to the Rams for Rams Quarterback Sam Bradford.

The Rams and the Eagles traded Quarterbacks! Both QB’s were injured last year; Nick Foles fractured his collarbone during a game in Week 8 of last years NFL season against Texans in Houston and thankfully did not need surgery.  Sam Bradford tore his ACL in the preseason. Foles had already taken the Philadelphia Eagles to a record of 6-2 on the season when he was injured. Here are the deal details from Phil Sheridan of ESPN:

"In addition to Foles, the Rams will also get Philadelphia’s fourth-round pick in 2015 and second-round pick in 2016. The Eagles will get St. Louis’ fifth-round pick in 2015 in addition to Bradford. The Eagles can also pick up a conditional pick in 2016 based on how many snaps Bradford takes. If Bradford plays less than 50 percent the Eagles will get a 4th-round pick, if he does not play at all it becomes a 3rd-rounder. If Bradford plays more than 50 percent of snaps the Eagles will not receive any additional compensation."

Just to jog your memory, former Wildcat QB Nick Foles has already been recognized by the NFL hall of fame for a game he played in the NFL scoring seven touchdowns in one game. More information on Nick Foles Jersey and ball in the Hall of Fame according to USA Today’s Nick Schwartz:

"Nick Foles stunned the Oakland Raiders and the rest of the league with 406 passing yards and seven touchdowns Sunday, becoming just the seventh quarterback in the history of the NFL to throw that many touchdown passes (and he only needed three quarters to do it).Foles’ historic performance has already been recognized at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, where his jersey and a game ball he used to throw his seventh touchdown now sit beside a Peyton Manning jersey. Manning also threw seven touchdown passes on the opening night of the season against Baltimore. Foles’ gear was quickly shipped to Canton, grass stains and all."

Here is a tweet and link to Myles Simmons, Rams Insider (@MylesASimmons) on the Rams trade for Nick Foles:

Here’s an excerpt from the St. Louis Rams article on the stats the Ram’s organization assessed Nick Foles:

"In three years with the Eagles, Foles has played in 28 games, making 24 starts. Over the last two seasons, he complied a 14-4 record, leading Philadelphia to the playoffs in 2013. In that season, the 6-foot-5, 244-pound quarterback took over for Michael Vick full-time in Week 5 and finished with 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions. His 8.5 touchdown percentage, 9.1 yards per attempt, and 119.2 rating all topped the league among qualified passers."

No one knows what Chip Kelly is up to, and plenty of Philadelphia fans are asking this question. The Eagles record last year was 10-6, even though former Jets and USC quarterback

Mark Sanchez

(4-4) was at the helm for the rest of the season.

The St. Louis Rams owner though is busy getting a new stadium approved and built. The question remains, will he build a stadium in Inglewood California next to the Forum and bring back the Rams to Los Angeles? Or, has dangling the possible move to Los Angeles get St. Louis to cave in and give him a new stadium? Most of the media feel the move to Los Angeles is a good possibility, and the NFL seems to be warming up to the idea. I would be one happy Wildcats, Rams and Los Angeles sports fan if the Rams move to Los Angeles because not only do the Rams move within minutes of my house, but their Quarterback is my favorite quarterback in the NFL: Nick Foles.  Let’s remind the owner that moving to Los Angeles, their team would be much closer to all the Arizona Wildcat fans on Twitter

!    Final thoughts from Nick himself, I have waited for this all day! Me and a couple thousand other fans…
