In case you weren’t aware, there are already odds on next years NCAA champions, they were published by Bovado which is an online gambling destination offering online casino & poker games. In Bovada’s list, Arizona is listed with the ninth best odds at 25/1.

Four other schools also have a 25/1 odds to win the Championship next year: Gonzaga, Indiana, Oklahoma, and Villanova. The top choice to win next year is North Carolina with 6/1 odds, then Kentucky with 8/1 odds, Maryland, 12/1, Virginia 12/1, Duke 16/1, Kansas 16/1 and Iowa State 18/1.

So, if someone were to bet $50 Arizona to be next year’s NCAA Champions today, they could stand to earn $1,250 if Arizona wins next March. We have to think, Arizona’s odds are only going to get better as time goes on, but that doesn’t mean it would be better for the gambler if they wait.

Along with Arizona (Elite 8, Pac-12 Champs), UCLA (Sweet 16), Utah (Sweet 16) and Oregon (third round, Pac-12 Finals) all made it into this year’s NCAA Tournament from the Pac-12 last season.  Arizona was 16-2 in the Pac-12 and won the 2015 regular season Pac-12 putting the team at a one seed for the NCAA tournament brackets.

If it makes you feel better, Wisconsin’s odds as of today are 33/1. Other Pac-12 teams: UCLA and Utah 50/1, Oregon 66/1, Cal 100/1,  Colorado and Stanford 150/1, Arizona State and Washington 200/1, and finally USC 300/1.

Oregon State (Gary Payton Jr. is probably declaring) and Washington State did not make the list. We are thinking now that since the new ASU head coach is Bobby Hurley (just left Buffalo after agreeing to stay there), their teams odds will get better.

Coach Sean Miller has the following roster for the 2015/2016 team thus far (listed with next years college class):

F:     Senior Ryan Anderson (Boston College Transfer)

G:    Senior Jacob Hazzard

C:    Senior Kaleb Tarczewski (@pointguardU Announced on 4/8  That Sources say he is staying, but then Bruce Pascoe says he heard he is leaving for the NBA)

G:    Junior Kadeem Allen (JUCO Transfer)

G:    Junior Gabe York

G:    Junior Elliott Pitts

C:    Sophomore Dusan Ristic

G:    Sophomore Parker Jackson-Cartwright

G:    Sophomore Trey Mason

G:    Freshman Allonzo Trier

C:    Freshman Chance Comanche

G:    Freshman Justin Simon

F:    Freshman Ray Smith

More from Wildcats Basketball

Looking at this roster, the first question which comes to mind is will he keep three centers? Or will he move Dusan into the forward position and develop those skills? The other big question marks left after Kaleb is to-be- Sophomore forward Stanley Johnson, will he return or go to the NBA?  Also there is High School forward Ivan Rabb; will he commit to Arizona after all after putting off his decision for a few weeks or will he commit to Cal?  They both have two more weeks to declare or not, so we wait.
