Arizona Class of ’16: There Will Be a New T.J. in Town- T.J. Leaf

Arizona Wildcats Basketball Class of 2016: There is a new T.J. in town, his name is T.J. Leaf and this young man is not a point guard but he is an exciting power forward who’s just starting to show the world his already mad skills.

T.J Leaf, @Tyleaf_22, Power Forward, had been given offers from Arizona, Duke, UCLA, Indiana, Iowa, SDSU, Florida, Michigan, Texas and Xavier. He committed on November 14th 2014 to the University of Arizona to be a part of Sean Millers program.

Leaf has already been wearing his Arizona Gear as you can see in this photograph with Matthew Miller (Committed to Syracuse University):

T.J Leaf is one of six high school players who are up for the 2015 Cal-Hi Sports Mr. Basketball State Player of the Year; the winner should be announced today Monday, April 13. There are at least 100 past winners of this POY award from California including last years winner of the award which went to Arizona’s Stanley Johnson.

In addition to Leaf, there is one other junior finalist for this award and his name is Lonzo Ball (committed to UCLA). There are also four senior High School Players including Ivan Rabb (Announcing tonight, has not yet committed Cal/AZ), Tyler Dorsey (University of Oregon), Rex Pflueger (Notre Dame University), and Stephen Thompson Jr. (Oregon State University.)

Another big time junior recruit is this Arizona-committed 6-foot-9, 205-pound standout who dominated in the San Diego area this season. Averaging over 22 points per game as a freshman, he averaged 26.5 points last season before averaging 27.4 points, 14.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game this season as the Knights captured the CIF San Diego Section Division II championship before losing in the opening round of the CIF Open Division by one point to Etiwanda. His dad, Brad, is the head coach of the Knights. T.J. also already has USA Basketball experience on his resume.

T.J. recently participated this last weekend in the Adidas Uprising game on the Compton Magic team, he scored a team high 27 points, nine rebounds, four assists, made 86% of his free-throws and more!

The 6’9” Foothills High School (El Cajon, California) junior forward T.J. Leaf is now No. 10 in the Yahoo.com’s Rivals 150 2016 rankings.

It seems TJ may be able to follow in Kaleb Tarczewski’s footsteps, both as a player and as a fisherman:

Enjoy this great play from Leaf from the Adidas Gauntlet in Dallas, Texas where he turned a lot of heads, caused a lot of commotion, and don’t miss the stare down on his opponent after his posterizing dunk:
