Arizona Recruit Michael Eletise is Our Kinda Guy

Offensive lineman recruit Michael Eletise, ranked No. 1 in the state of Hawaii, cut his list from 10 to 5 final schools at “The Opening” yesterday; Arizona made the list.

Wednesday July 7 The Opening kicked off in Beaverton Oregon with a full Nike Football Training Camp. One key invitee is OL Michael Eletise. Eletise is getting a lot of attention. He had let the media know that he was going to revise his list of schools down from the hordes of schools on his list to the top five while at ‘The opening” camp and he did just that.

There aren’t many photo’s of Eletise where he isn’t showing his bright contagious smile.

The Pac-12 loves Michael and Michael loves the Pac-12. According to Greg Biggins from Scout.com, his final five schools in alphabetical order and not necessarily in order of which he likes the best are Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, Ole Miss and Washington.

Two schools Biggins thought had a chance to make the cut from 10 to five were other Pac-12 schools: California and UCLA. Previously Eletise had cut the rest of Pac-12 teams; Washington State, Utah, Oregon and Oregon State. Three Pac-12 schools stay on the short list. Not Sure if he was offered by USC or Colorado.

In case you are wondering why Nebraska made the list, Michael said has worked out with the coaches son, and he gets along great with the coach and likes him. Seemed an out of the blue choice, but there is a personal connection in there, so that just makes me like him even more.

What was it about Arizona and Arizona State that helped them make his list? “Arizona State, we love the coach Chris Thompson, he’s a really good coach and he is a Christian and he talks to me about his faith, and that’s a very big part of my decision…Arizona, the coaches are all nice and its a really good academic program and they have really good hope for the athletes which would be a really good help.”

Washington? “Great academics and the coaches have really good morals, they are going to be a great team in the next years,” said Eletise.

Ole miss is a school known for ‘Big Mike’, its good school and they have great traditions..there’s a Somoan connection.

Micheal Eletise has 42 scholarship offers!  Top football schools as well: Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, and the list goes on and on.

Brian Perroni of 247Sports named Eletise the ‘Alpha Dog’, here’s why:

"Honolulu (Hawaii) Kaiser offensive lineman Michael Eletise did not get a ton of reps on Wednesday but the 6-foot-4, 315-pound guard from Hawaii made the most of his. Eletise was easily the most physical lineman on the day, throwing Antwuan Jackson to the ground on one rep. He keeps his feet moving on the interior and gets a great initial punch to not let the defender into his body."

Apparently Michael was so excited to go to the Opening, he was the first one there. Gotta love his desire and eagerness!

I think Wildcats fans should feel pretty good about being in the top 5 and it looks like the decision will come down to at least these three things, faith, family feeling and academics.

He is going to take his trips and see how it goes…so we will see..let’s hope he takes one of his first trips to Arizona although when Micheal lists the schools he seems to start with Arizona State, but I am not sure he’s their kind of guy.

Beardown Micheal!
