Arizona Wildcats Football to Win The Pac-12 South, Why Not?
So it’s time to get serious about our Wildcats Football countdown where experts start throwing out predictions. I’ve listened to a couple different outlooks and predictions I don’t agree with, thus it’s time to throw out my prediction!
I’m sure that some will disagree with my opinion but it’s no fun if you don’t upset a few people. So let me start with the bad news so we can move onto the good news and possibly even great news.
Last season for the Arizona Wildcats Football team could not have finished any worse after such an exciting ending to the regular season. Wildcats lost both of their post season games. First there was the Pac-12 Title Game vs Oregon loosing by two points and then a heart breaking shootout loss against Boise State in The Fiesta Bowl.

I am probably not the only one disappointed in the end of season results, that I can pretty much guarantee. Every year you shoot to be the team holding up a trophy at the end of the season and not losing your last game. I guess the Wildcats consolation prizes are not to shabby; they earned The Pac-12 South Title and The Territorial Cup, deflating that school up north.
Anyway, lets get back to talking about the upcoming season. Who can honestly say they had Wildcats Football winning the south in their prediction last season? Who can say you or the experts predicted Arizona’s record would end up as 10-2? Again I’m sure the answer to those questions are ‘not many’ and that’s not a bad thing as we still had a lot of unknowns going into last season but those got resolved and it doesn’t lesson the accomplishment.
Time to discuss this seasons Pac-12 south competitioin. I have been hearing all this talk about USC and UCLA and I’m sure they deserve the attention, but lets not forget who currently holds the title. Why not Arizona?
First things first. Arizona brought back some great players and added some good new pieces. I think the biggest positive for the Wildcats is our Head coach is the reigning Pac-12 Coach of the Year. What other coach in the Pac-12 will be hungrier to get back on the grid iron because he seeks revenge and redemption from those last two games of the season? Coach Rich Rod’s returning quarterback Anu Solomon is in the same boat with his coach as well.
I am sure that no one took all the “Wildcats are overrated” and “Wildcats choke” talk I heard last year harder than our head coach and team if they were paying attention. So what better way to put people in their place then coming out and showing what BearDown pride is all about?

I hear it year in and year out: there is this team that is better that Arizona and that player who is better than that our Wildcat player, but somehow the Wildcats were good enough to win the Pac-12 South last year. Why should this year be any different?
One thing that’s different is that Arizona doesn’t have a bye week this season. This means the team plays 12 straight games in one of the most competitive divisions in college football and Coach Rich Rod acknowledges that will be a challenge for the team.
It will take a nearly perfect season to top last seasons performance but if anyone can do it, it’s our Wildcats Football team. No one said it will be easy but man it will be a fun ride and here at ZonaZealots we will be watching and reporting on the whole season! So don’t forget to BEARDOWN all season long boys!
