Arizona Football completes another successful week of recruiting, adding their 18th commit of the 2017 Class on Friday night.

Things are indeed rolling for the Wildcats in football recruiting. Head coach Rich Rodriguez has shown he likes to get to work quickly when it comes to recruiting, and the 2017 class seems to be a bit of the same for Arizona so far.

We are still a couple of months away from the 2016 season from officially kicking-off in Glendale, AZ, and the Wildcats are staying busy this off-season.

A slew of new coaching hires hasn’t slowed down Arizona’s aggressiveness when it comes to recruiting, and this staff has gotten off to a great start so far.

Back in March, Rodriguez seemed to echo these sentiments as well, and as we quickly approach July, the Wildcats seemingly have their class “close” to being done. Here is what he had to say;

“I think we’re off to a great start in recruiting, and I would be really surprised if we don’t put together one of the best-recruiting classes this school has ever had.”

Highly-touted Wildcat commit Greg Johnson is certainly excited by the recent recruiting action, and he has been very active on social media. Much like Kahlil Tate, he has been very vocal in favor of the Wildcats, and guys just want to play on the same team as him.

As we had highlighted last week, the Wildcats had secured commitments from; Bryce Gilbert, Josh Brown, Edgar Burrola, and Brian Casteel

But wait, this week there are more commits to announce, from three-star, hard-hitting Florida DE/ LB

Bryce Brand

, to three-star defensive backs

Scott Young

,

Xavier Bell

and

Malik Hausman

Arizona’s solid recruiting start has even prompted a few Wildcat commits to start becoming invested in the UA-ASU rivalry.

Of course, we are still a long ways off from signing day, but the future Wildcats are already taking in the spirit of the rivalry.

Worth noting, ASU currently has just five commits for the 2017 class, and after losing a few prominent assistant coaches from last years’ staff, it is possible the slight drop in recruiting is a direct result of that.

The Sun Devils did have a fairly significant day on Friday, picking up three commits, all from the same school (Scottsdale Saguaro), a feat that apparently hasn’t been accomplished before. However, perhaps the hype wasn’t quite worth the anticipation, as the said recruits (Kyle Soelle, Jared Polawski, and Corey Stephens) aren’t necessarily the best in the state.

Granted, as we had said, we are still a long way from signing day, and even though things can and often do change in that time, the start is very promising. Welcome and congratulations to our new Wildcat commits, Bear Down!
