ARIZONA BASKETBALL REPEATS AS PAC-12 CHAMPIONS!
Even if they probably share the title, we can still celebrate! The Wildcats get the two seed in the Pac-12 Tournament and will play this Thursday night in the second round of the tournament. The Arizona Basketball team ended their season with a bang, finishing 16-2 in the Pac-12. This game was all Arizona in the second half, after giving us all a bit of a cardiac murmur in the first half.
The Wildcats get the two seed in the Pac-12 Tournament and will play this Thursday night in the second round of the tournament. The Arizona Basketball team ended their season with a bang, beating rival ASU. After giving us all a bit of a cardiac murmur in the first half, this game was all Arizona in the second half,
Sean Miller has said that it’s the team that comes out in the second half strong is the team that usually wins, and that is exactly what his Cats did today. He got doused with water from him team and it seems everyone caught their shirt and hat as they were thrown to them.
The IMG VIP Player of the game, according to Brian Jeffries, is Rawle Alkins. He called him a ‘monster on the court.’ We thought we would just hit the highs and lows of the game spattered with a few tweets.
Highs:
- Rawle Alkins and his hustle on getting second chance points
- PJC Made the team’s only two three-pointers
- Chance was on fire, shooting 100 percent for most of the first half with his 30th and 31st dunks on the season.
- Keanu Pinder gave us some defense keeping the Cats in the game, he, Allen, Parker, and Alkins don’t give up on plays
- Lauri was +18 in first five minutes of the second half
- The second half – really looked like they were back to form
- Trier got hot in the second half with five points on two shots and one rebound
- Dusan Ristic got more active on both sides of the court in the second half, hitting two key free throws to keep the cats up 10 points
- THREE HUGE BLOCKS by Lauri got everyone out of their seats at Well Fargo Arena and at home, Wildcats +21 when Lauri on the court
- Kadeem Allen shot in double figures for the 15th time this season!
- New Rebound King – Rawle Alkins earned a double-double scoring 11 points and making 15 rebounds.
- Wildcats finish 16-2 in the Pac-12
- Four Wildcats scored in double digits, with 14-second chance points
- The team grabbed 50 rebounds! 50!
Lows:
More from Wildcats Basketball
- Arizona Basketball likely to schedule Florida Atlantic for 2023
- Rondae Hollis-Jefferson’s FIBA World Cup performance is reminiscent of Kobe Bryant’s
- Rawle Alkins a star in the Drew League this summer
- Arizona Basketball to play in ‘Battle 4 Atlantis’ in 2024
- Reflections on the Pac-12, the Arizona Wildcats, and other memories
- ASU Coach Bobby Hurley did not get a Technical
- The entire first half – and a ton of fouls called on Arizona specifically Parker Jackson-Cartwright and Lauri Markkanen putting them back on the bench
- Playing against ASU’s zone defense was a mystery it seems for the Wildcats
- Dusan Ristic came out flat on Defense in the first half, and in the middle of the second half, he didn’t have fouls, so maybe he should go hard for the ball no matter what?
- Two air-balled three-pointers by Allonzo Trier and Lauri Markkanen (Lauri may have had his elbow hit)
- Cats went on a ten-point run to begin the second half – Three early key baskets in the second half; Kadeem Allen with a three and Keanu Pinder with an FG, followed by Zo hitting an FG – caused Hurley to call a time out.
- Somehow Trier got called for two offensive calls
- PJC fouled out; according to Javier Morales, “Actually his third of his career, one in each of his seasons at UA.”
