Offensive Lineman Jacob Alsadek is holding his teammates accountable
The Arizona Football team is just getting started for next season, and offensive lineman Jacob Alsadek is ready to lead his O-Line and hold them accountable.
If you weren’t aware, Arizona Football team won back the Territorial Cup by whomping on ASU, 56-35, in the last game of the 2016 season. The Wildcats offensive line helped the rushing game immensely, opening running lanes for the quarterback and running backs. Arizona finished the day with a school record, 511 rushing yards.
Only three passes were completed the entire game on eight attempts, one of those passes was a 64-yard touchdown from Brandon Dawkins to Nate Phillips. Without time to pass, that exciting touchdown may not have been put in the record books. So, Wildcats fans, there is a reason to be hopeful.
The biggest loss last season for the Arizona Wildcats last season was not a game, it was the loss of their senior center Zach Hemmila. The team wears the number 65 on the back of their helmets in remembrance, but we can’t even imagine how the players who were the closest to him got through the season. It hit Jacob Alsadek pretty hard, but he stepped up and took responsibility throughout the season. He never wants to live through a season like that again.
I know it sounds hard to believe, but I have found, players on the offensive line are some of the most lovable players off the field, and fiercest on the field on the Arizona Football team. They are also the largest players on the field, matching their big heart. Redshirt senior Jacob Alsadek is one of the leaders for the O-Line next year, and he fits the bill to a T.

Jacob stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 315 pounds. He told us the spring is the time to put on weight and muscle, so that’s why guys may seem out of shape at Spring Practice. That and the fact that the O-Line only played with One’s and Two’s, there were no Three’s (Arizona only had nine when they need 15). Due to the lack of a third string, the One’s got a ton of playing time in, and Alsadek used the time wisely. He does not want to repeat last season. Those press conferences were not fun, and he hates to lose.
Alsadek is enjoying a fresh start and opportunity to make a difference this season. “My attitude right now is more of a, ‘I don’t want to let that happen again’ kinda thing,” said Alsadek, “Me, Luco Bruno, and another couple of guys, De Beer, are kind of trying to take those leadership roles.” That leadership is not only on the field but also in the weight room. He is holding his fellow teammates accountable. This season, Alsadek has redshirt freshman Michael Eletise to help protect the quarterback, and we all know Eletise has been chomping at the bit for his opportunity.
This season, Alsadek has Eletise and a more experienced Nathan Eldridge at center to help this season. We all know Eletise has been trying to ready himself for when he steps on the field, showing the world what he is made of. Michael is not happy unless he is playing his favorite sport, so Jacob should find a willing participant in Eletise, and hopefully, that will rub off on the rest of the guys.

It is time to win football games, and that is not lost on Jacob, “That’s why we’re here, we are here to win football games.” I believe he is going to set the O-Line straight and continue on the road to winning more next season.
