The Arizona Wildcats won the Pac-12 regular season championship along with Oregon, but then dominated the Ducks to win the Pac-12 Championship!
Oregon got bad news before the game, their center Oregon center Chris Boucher had torn his ACL in the Cal game and could not compete tonight. He actually played on the torn ACL. It was sad news as well, he is a senior and his season was over. Sean Miller, not the petty coach that the Bruins would have you believe he is, the classy coach went over to Chris and expressed his sympathy.
Next fans found out that Keanu Pinder would start the game instead of Dusan Ristic. Maybe it was to not be in foul trouble with his starters, or maybe he was taking advantage of not having Boucher playing, either way, Pinder got three fouls very quickly. Allonzo Trier did a pretty good job. Chance got a putback, a 20-footer, and a slam dunk.
Dillon Brooks tried to be a one-man team, along with making all of his six free-throws, he was 5-12 from the field. Arizona went into the locker room ahead by six at the half. The Cats looked strong but couldn’t pull away, and the referees were whistle happy, especially with Arizona.
Arizona kept the game with a nice 10-point buffer for most of the game, but Oregon got back within four points. Miller put Chance Comanche back in the game, A few defensive moves and a nice shot from the field and Arizona was back up by eight with 3:22 left.
Arizona was plus 12 on the glass thus far.
Kadeem shot the ball which looked like it wasn’t going in, and it ended up being a bank shot. Didn’t see this on TV but it is very funny:
Lauri Markkanen made some crucial turnovers along with the rest of the team; they made 14 turnovers vs. five on Oregon. Oregon’s three-pointers weren’t going in, but they still brought the game back within six points with 2:16 left.

Oregon pressed, over and over again, and then Arizona would drive to the basket. Lauri hardly ever misses, and he missed a crucial one tonight with about a minute left. Allonzo got the rebound but missed a shot, and then Dylan Ennis charged the other way and fouled Kadeem Allen with 55 seconds left, the score was 79-75.
Arizona had a difficult time getting the ball in bounds and quarterbacked the throw to Lauri who got fouled and missed them both.
Then PJC got fouled and missed his free-throws. A Jordan Bell rebound turned into a lay-up and Oregon’s last time out. Both teams were out of time-outs, both teams were in the double-bonus. Arizona went up by 2, 79-77.
Allonzo got fouled on the inbound during an Oregon full court press (which Altman used for most of the 2nd half) and made both free-throws, Arizona up 81-77. Dillon Brooks fouled out, Allonzo Trier made his last two free-throws with 5.6 seconds left. Tyler Dorsey hit a three at the buzzer but…..ARIZONA Won!
Arizona defeated the Ducks 83-80 and won their second Pac-12 title in three years.

NUMBER ONE SEED IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT? Darn Lunardi says it won’t happen, Bill Walton feels it should and so does Allonzo! Because it wasn’t on TV if you weren’t there, here are some tweets with the action care of All Sports Tucson:
And this is how you get happy when not able to drink in Vegas!
Locker room fun:
When it’s all said and done, you can see why Sean Miller relies on his experienced players: PJC, Kadeem Allen, Allonzo Trier, Dusan Ristic, Chance Comanche. He’s been here before with them. He is a coach who puts trust in his seasoned players traditionally.
Kobi Simmons took the three minutes of playing time and relished it; he is a team player. We’re sure Miller would love to see him back next season. Freshmen were fantastic as well, Rawle and Lauri provided sparks when needed, but notice Miller went to his experienced players at the end of the game.
Rawle has not been in any NBA Draft conversations until tonight. Tonight announcers started talking about him. That’s what the NCAA tournament is in a way; a try out for the NBA. But to win the NCAA tournament, you cannot think about that, you just take each game and keep your focus. This team is built to do just that.
