If you haven’t been paying attention, it has been a busy off-season for the Arizona Football team, as coaches are scouring the land for recruits.

Common for every division one coach and program, it seems the Arizona Football is having quite the busy off-season themselves. Every day, it feels like new offers are given out.

While it is difficult to keep track of them all, according to Scout.com, there have been 120 offers sent out thus far for 2018, and that’s not including recent offers to any 2019 recruits that may have been recently offered.

As it stands, the Wildcats have five commitments in the class of 2018, with the likelihood of them adding at least 15-20 or more in the coming months until the February signing day.

It should be no secret, that under head coach Rich Rodriguez, the recruiting has been inconsistent, to say the least.

While it is hard to be right in your evaluations with every single recruit, we’ve certainly had a number of misses as well as successes.

The staff has also made the commitment to put forth more of an emphasis and effort in recruiting, and the recent staff changes over the past couple seasons would indicate that is true.

In addition to that, it seems the Wildcats are also expanding their recruiting territory, giving out 14 offers in the state of Texas alone. Seemingly uncharted territory for Rodriguez while at Arizona, Texas has been a bit of an afterthought.

Here are a few solid offers which have been made recently by the Arizona coaching staff that we would like to highlight:

Jacob Isaia (3* OL- Bishop Gorman HS- Las Vegas, NV)

Brock Sturges (3* RB- Allen HS- Allen, TX)

DJ Brown (3* CB – St. John’s College HS – Washington D.C.)

Tennessee Pututau (4* ATH Cottonwood HS – Salt Lake City, UT)

Kievan Myers (3* OT – Bishop Dunne HS – Dallas, TX)

In addition to the many offers already given out thus far, of course, there are still a few high school athletes hoping to be given a chance.

One athlete, in particular, is JT Shrout. A standout pocket-passing QB at the talented William S. Hart HS in Newhall, CA, Shrout is a three-star quarterback heading into his senior season with offers already from Hawaii, San Jose State, and UNLV among others.

Zona Zealots and In The Front Row met with Shrout to talk about his recruitment and his style of play among other things. Since we spoke to him, he has been offered by at least 12 schools, but not yet Arizona.

Also in the video is Jack Alexander of Redondo Union HS- shortly after, Jack got his first offer from Idaho and then got the offer he had been waiting for from Arizona! Check out Alexanders Twitter feed and you will see that he pays attention to what’s going on at the UofA and was wearing Arizona gear before he visited and got an offer. He also has a high GPA at 4.0!

At Zona Zealots, we are encouraged by the number of offers, and the sort of philosophy change in recruiting from the coaches. The athletes are out there, you just have to go get them! Bear Down, Arizona!
