It’s that time of the year, NBA Draft workouts are happening throughout the USA, and Kadeem Allen got his shot to work out with the Los Angeles Lakers and head coach Luke Walton.
Kadeem Allen has met and spoken to Luke Walton before, but not as long as he did today at the Lakers practice facility in El Segundo, California. Not only did he meet Luke, according to on a video of the Wildcat on the Lakers Website, but he also met Magic Johnson and seemed to enjoy meeting the icon. Luke told Allen to “He just told me to Keep competing, keep doing what I’m doing, and I have a bright future.”
Allen flew out late last night, woke up early and went to the Lakers practice facility. He is tired, but that isn’t keeping him down.

“It was always fun, you know, playing in front of other Arizona guys,” said Allen, “Especially the head coach like him, and the president like Magic Johnson, two Hall-of-Famers, coach Luke will be a Hall-of-Famer in the future, and it’s just fun playing in front of those guys.”
Allen has been flying all over the country, and he has tried out with seven teams. According to his press conference after his Lakers workout. Kadeem feels this was one of the hardest things he has had to go through.
“I think so. Flying from different coasts. Flying from east coast and then flying back to the west,” said Allen, “It’s a great experience, it’s fun, but it’s a little tiring.” Allen’s flies out of his North Carolina home base, five and a half hours from Los Angeles.
The Lakers told him what they liked about his performance, “I did a good job talking on the court, you know defensive stuff, just keep talking to my teammates and keep trying to lead other guys out there.” He says he likes to compete in NBA workouts.
The media pointed out that he is known for his defense, “I feel defense is my strongest point, that’s what got me here, that’s what got me at Arizona, and I am not going to change that for everything,” explained Kadeem, “everywhere I go I am just going to keep playing defense and doing what I do.”

Seven cities? Kadeem is a busy Wildcat. It’s always great when good defense is noticed by the NBA as it is severely lacking. Things are looking good for Allen, seems like there is interest, and especially from the Lakers.
