The Arizona Wildcat basketball team will have a key, experienced starter coming back next season in Allonzo “Zo” Trier, who is out to prove himself.
Zo’s back! The combination of talented returners and five and four star recruits coming next season, the Wildcats will have the Golden State Warriors version of a “Super Team.” Allonzo Trier’s role will be one of leadership, experience, talent and someone who Coach Sean Miller can count on in late game situations when it’s close.
This past season with the Cats, Zo averaged 17 points per game and averaged double digit points in16 out of the 18 games played.
After the season ended, many were not sure if Trier would come back for another year with the Wildcats, but he did. Even though he had a shortened season, the stats he put up were impressive:
Season | G | MP | FG | FG% | 2P | 2P% | 3P | 3P% | FT | FT% | TRB | AST | PTS |

2016-17 | 18 | 31.9 | 5.1 | .460 | 3.2 | .514 | 1.9 | .391 | 5.2 | .810 | 5.3 | 2.7 | 17.2 |

In today’s game of college basketball, any other athlete in Zo’s position would have easily made the decision to go to the NBA. What he did is a rare thing nowadays. His fellow teammate, Rawle Alkins, did the very same thing and decided to come back to play for the Wildcats after trying out for the NBA without an agent – maybe its a new trend!
Zo’s decision to stay for another year shows how much he enjoys being a Wildcat and becoming a GREAT player on the college level. Plus, it’s almost as if he wants to prove himself too. Remember he missed part of his freshman season due to injury, and of course last year with the suspension.
This puts him in an excellent position to be successful on the next level. If Trier stays healthy for his junior season, his stock in the NBA will rise.
Zo has the versatility to play the one or two spot and attacks the rim in an effective manner, which NBA GMs find attractive. In the NBA, there is a lot of one on one, creating your own shot style of offensive, which fits Trier perfectly.
Zo can shoot the three, find ways to score inside the paint, attack the rim, handle the ball with both hands, and DUNK the ball:
Many Wildcat fans can’t wait for next season and are expecting great things to happen. Even former Wildcat and current NBA star for Orlando Magic, Aaron Gordon, is excited:
