We finally get a taste for our 2017/18 Arizona Basketball team as they play three games in Spain beginning Sunday.

The Arizona Basketball team is in Spain, all of them, Chase Jeter, Ray Smith, all the walk-ons, coaches including Associate Coach Lorenzo Romar and support staff. They play three games. The first game is on Sunday, August 13th at noon with coverage beginning at 10 AM MST/PST.

Wildcats fans will get their first look at the freshman and Chase Jeter who will be able to play in Spain even though he cannot play during the season as he transferred from Duke over the summer. The team has been able to get ten practices in before other teams who aren’t traveling overseas to play exhibition games.

Head coach Sean Miller isn’t looking to win as much as get everyone playing time and experience, and he doesn’t know what the competition is going to be like. The purpose is to get the camaraderie built, and they begin to start getting chemistry on the court. Leaders should emerge, but Miller also warns that the team is totally different this season. He mentions four returners as possible leaders, Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Dusan Ristic, Allonzo Trier and Rawle Alkins. Miller also alluded that the leaders are usually the best players.

The players are looking to win, well at least Rawle Alkins, King Rawle, who always plays the Savage Life way. The rest of the team has bought in, and it’s just automatic now when it comes to the signing off on any video posted.

DeAndre Ayton impresses Coach Miller, now 260 pounds and over 7-feet tall. Ayton has his own mantra, which we welcome:  “Arizona Our Time Has Come.” Miller warns fans not to take too much from these games because he won’t play anyone more than 22 minutes in a game, and he wants everyone to play in the game. Hmm, we will see, coach.

I for one paid my $30, I think it was, for a month subscription, I cannot bear to miss watching my Cats. And I will try very hard Coach Miller, not to take too much from these three games. It won’t be easy, but I get it, you have only had ten practices with this brand new team. Bear Down Arizona!
