Arizona Wildcats Class of 2018 at the No. 1 Spot, According to Scout.com
By David Rosen
The latest team rankings just came out for the Class of 2018 from Scout.com and the Arizona Wildcats top the list coming in at the No.1 spot.
No.1! Scout.com just released their latest rankings for the class of 2018 and your Arizona Wildcats are at the top. The strength and quality of the talent coming to Tucson next season are reasons why. Not only next season, but this season as well, the Wildcats have raised the bar quite high when it comes to recruiting elite talent!
According to Scout.com, the Wildcats were ranked No. 3 for the class of 2017, behind Duke and No. 2 ranked Kentucky, even though they have a dominating freshman class. How is that even possible? Well the reason why is because Duke was able to aquire Marvin Bagley (who re-classified for the class of 2017) and the Kentucky Wildcats have six five-star recruits playing this season.

- Arizona Basketball likely to schedule Florida Atlantic for 2023
- Rondae Hollis-Jefferson’s FIBA World Cup performance is reminiscent of Kobe Bryant’s
- Rawle Alkins a star in the Drew League this summer

How does Scout.com come up with these rankings? They use a sliding scale point system based on the player’s rating and overall position ranking and then averages them out. For example, a player who is a five star athlete would receive 200 points and if they are No. 1 at their position they would also receive 100 points. The last ranked player for a position would receive zero points.
For the class of 2018, the Wildcats have three commits: Jahvon Quinerly, Brandon Williams and Shareef O’Neal – what a trio! Jelly Fam, Super Sayian/Reef and BWill coming to “lane” near you!
- Quinerly has a five star rating and ranked No. 6 in the point guard position,
- Williams has a four star rating and ranked No. 10 in the point guard position
- O’Neal has a four star rating and ranked No.11 in the power forward position
Williams recently shared his excitement on twitter with his future teammates about the ranking update:
In addition to the Wildcats leading the country, the rest of the Pac 12 is showing up strong – there’s a reason why it’s called the Conference of Champions!
There are still plenty of talented class of 2018 players yet to commit – one of those being Bol Bol (who is really good friends with Wildcat 2018 commit O’ Neal). Imagine those two playing together – what a scary thought!
If Arizona is able to get at least a few more, it’s safe to say they will be at the top of the leaderboard for the Class of 2018 team rankings.
