If you didn’t catch the Raiders vs. Broncos rivalry game on Sunday, Oct. 1, you missed watching former Arizona Football safety Will Parks dominate in Denver’s No-Fly-Zone!
WOW! JUST WOW, WILL PARKS!
I never doubted that if Will Parks could get himself drafted on a team, he would show America and the NFL what he is made of. He has done just that, and it’s only his second year in the league.
Broncos fans were outraged when the front office let go of T.J. Ward, but maybe are a bit happier now with what they are seeing from Will Parks and his teammate, Justin Simmons as they are stepping up this season.
The two put themselves on the NFL map last year, when Simmons blocked an extra point attempt by the New Orléans Saints that would have put them ahead by one point. However, it was Parks that caught the ball and ran it all the way to his end zone for two points. The Bronco’s won 25-23, but the play was controversial because of Parks’ white shoes, did he step on the line? We will never know, but it counted!
You can watch the play in the video in the tweet below:
On Sunday, Parks logged six tackles against the Raiders, despite playing in fewer snaps than his teammates. The Broncos vs. Raiders rivalry is one of the most intense divisional matchups in the NFL, and so far in 2017, the Raiders have been touted by many in the media as a potential Superbowl pick behind quarterback Derek Carr (albeit his current injury possible hurting those chances). Those initial dreams have been slightly dashed by Parks and his defensive teammates.
“Obviously they are a pretty good team, it’s a tough league man,” said Parks, “People can’t really talk about who’s going to do this, who’s going to do that. Just like last year, nobody was really talking about Atlanta going to the Superbowl, and they made it there. Obviously, that’s the ultimate goal, and we are just playing one game at a time, one practice at a time, one opponent at a time, you know it’s a 16-game season. As long as we keep those thoughts in our minds, we should be good with everything else.”

Parks is so humble, when I asked him how it felt to be a part of the No-Fly Zone in Denver’s defense, this is what he said: “Me and Justin we kind of still consider ourselves part of the ‘baby little-no-fly,’ we still working, still have a lot of things to prove. Some guys are 99.9% perfect, that’s what our ultimate goal is. We want to get to our better selves. They say we are, but you know in the back of our minds we still have a lot to work through we could be way better than where we are playing at.”
Parks has many mentors on the Broncos. “Before TJ Ward was released from the team, he was probably one of my biggest mentors coming out of college,” explained Parks, “Now, I mean most of the guys, obviously Aquib , Chris , Stew and Roby those four guys have been a big help. Also Rubin , Domata and Peko — I look at them guys. I like to observe and look at how they are moving, how they are acting, all those guys are top notch pros, and I kinda take that into consideration. I try to add it to my game, add it to my mentality, so I’m operating at the highest level.”
Key Play: On an easy fourth-and-one play for the Raiders, who were obviously going to run with the newly acquired Marshawn Lynch fresh out of retirement from the Seahawks, Parks made a HUGE stop! Check it out:

Here is Parks after the game:
It is a sheer joy having Will in your life period. Add to that being able to cheer him on in the NFL, and there is nothing like being his fan. Parks is Philadelphia grit, mixed with what rubbed off from his former college coach, Rich Rodriguez (tenacity, hard practice, and love of football), combined with happiness, fun, positivity, fashion savviness, competitiveness, fitness, and generosity all rolled into one.
Simply saying that he ‘gives back’ does not cut it when talking about how much Parks gives back to his communities (not just Denver, but in Philadelphia as well). “That’s my number one thing, you know even when I was in Arizona,” said Parks, “And the one thing I learned growing up, was to give of myself. I mean I never had that, I never had people come to my neighborhood, I never had people come to my high school. For me, I feel like it’s mandatory because you can always affect one person and not just one person. They can go home and tell their parents, that they have a whole different mindset now because you went there and talked to them. At the end of the day, I don’t look for any awards doing it, I don’t look for accolades, nothing like that, I just want to take pride for being a human being in this world.”

I asked Parks about his fashion; his style is off the charts. “In four years I’m going to put some of this money into collabing with a new fashion company,” said Parks, “I got a few of mine that I definitely want to collaborate with in the years to come.” Well, we look forward to your clothing line, and we also cannot wait to continue to cheer you on in your career in the NFL. See you in Los Angeles when you come to play the Chargers Philly Will! Bear Down!
