The Arizona Wildcats Women’s soccer team ended their regular season on a high note, winning seven conference games and beating the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Home sweet home! In front of a packed house at Mulchany Stadium, the Arizona Wildcats won 2-1 over the Arizona State Sun Devils. Whether it’s basketball, football, softball, baseball, volleyball, hockey, or soccer it does not matter, a win over “those guys” from up North is such a great feeling!

More from Wildcats Soccer

With this win, the Wildcats finish the regular season with a record of 10-4-4 and 7-2-2 in the Pac-12 conference. ! They currently sit in third place in the Pac 12 and will look to continue their winning streak into the post season. If things couldn’t get any better, they now have strong possibility of hosting the first round of the NCAA tournament next week with tonight’s win.

Not done yet. History was made tonight!! This Arizona soccer team is the first to win seven Pac-12 games in school history!

Way to go ladies!

Coming off a 1-0 win against the Washington State Cougars on Sunday, the Wildcats carried that momentum and confidence into the game against the Sun Devils.  They got onto the scoreboard first late in the first half, with a rebound finish by Hannah Clifford that originated from a corner kick.

A little more then 15 minutes into the 2nd half, the Sun Devils tied it with a left footed strike by Jazmarie Vader. But the Wildcats had the final say with about 16 minutes to go in the game when Amanda Porter was able to get the ball past the goalie for the winning goal!

The Wildcats finished the game with 15 shots on goal, five corner kicks and five saves by goalkeeper Lainey Burdett. They were able to sustain a lot of offensive pressure and scoring chances by great passes, give n goes and getting to the ball first on 50/50 balls. Even though there were a lot of bad calls by the referee (what else is new), that did not stop the Wildcats from being aggressive when the Sun Devils had the ball.

Wildcat fans showed up tonight, which was great to see.  Unfortunately the 942 crew was there as well, but their voices were drowned out by the loud chants of “Bear Down” and “UofA, UofA.”  Maybe next time they may try to implent the infamous “curtain of distraction” to have any chance, NOT!
