Arizona Basketball Continues Non-Conference Winning Streak
Allonzo Trier and the No. 3 Arizona Basketball team (3-0) extended its non-conference home winning streak after routing Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday night.
In front of another packed house on Thursday night, the Arizona Basketball team dazzled fans once again, routing the visiting Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners, by a 91-59 final!
So far in 2017, it is apparent that the Wildcats are on a mission, and it certainly shows! Getting to work early in this one, Arizona was all business once again.

From the tip, Cal State Bakersfield came out swinging, but Arizona responded in a big way. Down 6-2 early on, the Wildcats would subsequently go on a 13-0 run, before the Roadrunners would eventually score again, breaking up the Wildcats’ run.
Exchanging buckets for much of the first half, it was Allonzo Trier who controlled the game from the get go. Shooting a blazing four of five (including two for two from three) from the field, he would also lead all scorers with 14 points at the half.
However, it was senior point guard, Parker Jackson-Cartwright with perhaps the play of the game, hitting a half court prayer just as time expired in the first half! Arizona led it 44-27 at the break!
Freshman sensation Deandre Ayton would struggle shooting to start the game, having just two points, and Dusan Ristic would also have a nice half along with Trier, scoring 12 points, and grabbing four rebounds.
The Roadrunners would come out in the second half, again much like the first, scoring early. However, their run was short lived as the Wildcats continued much of their success into the second half.
Ayton would get much more involved in this one offensively, really finding his shooting touch, and continuing to grab rebounds. Deandre would finish with 18 points and 10 rebounds, his third double-double in as many games this season!
Trier continued his spectacular shooting performance, finishing with 28 points, four assists, and two rebounds on eight of nine shooting (three for three from the arc).
PJC would finish the game with a respectable 11 points and two assists in this one, as the Wildcats paced themselves to a 91-59 drubbing, extending the non-conference home winning streak to 43 games!
With the win, Arizona improves to 3-0 on the season, and will have a short break in action, before returning to the court to take on North Carolina State next Wednesday as part of the ‘Battle 4 Atlantis’ Tournament.
Should the Wildcats win, they will likely play either SMU, or Northern Iowa in the next game. That game is scheduled for Thursday, November 23rd at 1 PM MST.
