The game of basketball has changed dramatically in the past 5-10 years with the norm being 7-footers shooting from beyond the arc. How do you even guard that? You really can’t. The best you can do is contain this new breed of point Forwards from getting easy looks.
For Markkanen, he makes it look way too easy from “splash” range. How many has he made you ask? 35. What?! That sets a new NBA record for the most three-pointers made in the first 14 games of an NBA career! If Markkanen can keep this pace up, watch out. Many more records will be broken and many more No.24 jerseys will be sold!
This is not the first record he has set in his rookie season. Earlier this month he set a NBA record for the most three-pointers in the first six games of NBA career with 17! One character trait of Markkanen that makes him such an all around special individual is his personality. Not only does he put in the hard work, but he likes to have some fun. He recently reminded Alex Barcello on Twitter whose the boss with the trick shots inside McKale Center:
This was Barcello’s trick shot. You be the judge who was the best!
