Rivalry Week brings out the Best Smack Talk for Arizona fans
It’s the week Arizona fans long for, Rivalry Week! As the Arizona Football team prepares for its showdown with ASU, fans take to social media!
Who doesn’t love good smack talk. As Arizona fans, we love making fun of our rivals up north at any chance we get, but with Rivalry Week upon us, it’s only that much sweeter!
It has been 362 days and counting since the Wildcats beat the Sun Devils 56-35, without completing a pass in the second half, and nearly a year later, it still does not get tiring to say that!
More from Wildcats Basketball
- Arizona Basketball likely to schedule Florida Atlantic for 2023
- Rondae Hollis-Jefferson’s FIBA World Cup performance is reminiscent of Kobe Bryant’s
- Rawle Alkins a star in the Drew League this summer
- Arizona Basketball to play in ‘Battle 4 Atlantis’ in 2024
- Reflections on the Pac-12, the Arizona Wildcats, and other memories
In one of college football’s oldest, and most intense rivalries, this season should provide yet another heated and epic showdown in the Old Southwest.
Stakes run high for both teams. The Wildcats are 7-4 (5-3), the Sun Devils 6-5 (5-3). ASU has won two of their last four games, so has Arizona.
Whoever wins will finish second in the Pac-12 South, and will get the better bowl game, and of course take home the Territorial Cup until next year.
As important as this game is for both respective teams, it’s seemingly more meaningful to the fans. For fans, it equals bragging rights for the entire year, and you surely don’t want to be on the receiving end of the losing team smack talk.
We are sure it feels it has been a long time for Sun Devil fans listening to us gloat about the 56-35 drubbing last year, but until the fate is decided this weekend, the smack continues!
In honor of rivalry week, we wanted to bring you some of the best tweets we’ve seen thus far!
FYI, it’s spelt pity…
And perhaps this one being our absolute favorite! Because you can’t hate the moment current Arizona staff member Chuck Cecil intercepted ASU in the 1986 Territorial Cup, and returned it for 106 yards for a score! The Wildcats won that game 34-17!
