Arizona Basketball star Allonzo Trier was injured Monday in the Wildcats’ win versus North Dakota State, but should return quickly.

As the Wildcats were dominating the Bison, en route to a soon-to-be sixth straight win, Wildcat fans would endure a scary moment. Junior guard Allonzo Trier was defending North Dakota State’s Paul Miller with over nine minutes to go in the game, when Miller would try driving to the basket, colliding into Trier’s knee.

Trier would go down instantly. Slapping the floor, clearly agonizing in pain, everyone watching collectively holding their breath.

Re-watch the incident here:

Wildcats fans like me couldn’t help but think, ‘oh geez, what else could possibly go wrong?” Trier would then be helped up, limping off the floor into the locker room, awaiting for some kind of news.

Luckily, we would see him return moments later, hobbling back to Arizona’s bench, sporting an ice pack on the knee that was affected.

Still prognosis was unknown at that point, except only the conjecture of a few of the Medically unqualified.

However, things at least seemed rather positive. The team was still focused down the stretch, putting the distraction behind them, and coasting to a convincing, 83-53 win.

Following the game, many, including head coach had seemed hopeful about the injury, believing that it was likely just a bone bruise.

Now, over 24 hours later, and the news of Trier’s injury has come back, and it is positive! Trier had only suffered a bone bruise, luckily!

A big sigh of relief to the Wildcat faithful. The injury while painful, is far less severe than if he had torn or sprained something.

The injury in all likelihood will be day-to-day, and he could potentially return to action on Thursday, when Arizona takes on the UCONN Huskies.

His leadership and experience is vital to this teams’ success this year, and he will continue to have an important role moving forward.
