Steve Kerr named NBA Western Conference Coach of the Month for December
By David Rosen
Former Arizona Wildcat great and current head coach of the defending NBA World Champions Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr, was named NBA Western Conference Coach of the Month for December.
Steveeeeeeeee Kerr! Those who were old enough to remember, know what that meant. Another three-point shot by Kerr. One of the all-time greats to put on the Arizona Wildcat jersey, now coaches some all-time greats in the NBA, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant. Kerr’s legacy spans both the college and now professional level.
In his fourth season as head coach for the Warriors, Kerr was recognized as NBA Western Conference Coach of the Month for December. This is his sixth time winning the award. This guy just like to win!
His team won 13 out of 15 games, including a ten game win streak to start the month. They even did it without one of the best players in the league, Curry, who was out 11 games for the month of December due to an ankle injury. Not too shabby!
Overall, the Warriors are No.1 in the Western Conference with a record of 29-8 and 1.5 games ahead of the Houston Rockets. And, oh yeah, they have the best record in the league, ahead of the Boston Celtics. They are looking to win back to back NBA Championships this year. Kerr, you make DubNation and Wildcat fans all over the globe real proud!

Kerr joined the Warriors organization during the 2014-15 season. It was his first head coaching job, after playing in the NBA for 17 seasons and for three different teams. Kerr won three NBA Championships while playing with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls and two with the San Antonio Spurs.
Kerr did not waste any time using his championship experience in producing an NBA Championship in his first year as coach. He would go on to win another one in the 2016-17 season. If you are keeping track, that would be five championships as a player and two as a coach – wow!
Kerr not only has the talent but a great personality!
Having great players on his team does help, but when things are not going according to plan or deciding what play to call at the end of a game is all on the coach. Kerr understand what it takes to be an effective coach as he played under one of the all-time legendary coaches in the NBA, Phil Jackson aka the Zen Master!
