National Signing Day Continues as Arizona Wildcats finish class
National Signing Day part two is here, and as the Arizona Wildcats finish their 2018 recruiting class, we bring you our breakdown.
It has been a whirlwind of events for the Arizona Football team over the past month or so. Rich Rodriguez is no longer the coach of the Wildcats, as Kevin Sumlin takes over, just in time for National Signing Day.
Already just a couple weeks on the job, and Sumlin is picking up where Rodriguez left off, and not a moment too soon as signing day is here! That’s right, the annual event hosted on the first Wednesday in February, is upon with day two taking place.

If you don’t recall, National Signing Day is broken up into two signing periods now, with the early signing period already in the books. The Wildcats wrapped up the majority of their class over a month ago.
Now, signing day part two is amongst us, as high schoolers ink their names to National Letters of Intent, officially becoming Wildcats.
While it shouldn’t be too busy of a day for Arizona, we will bring you updates as the Letters of Intent come in. The Wildcats are only expecting to have just a few signings on the day, but nonetheless we want to provide your our analysis of each recruit that is expected to sign with Arizona!
Signing Day Part Two:
Kevin Doyle is a surprise of this class. A big, pro-style QB with a big arm from the East Coast became available just recently. A former Michigan commit, Doyle had decided to de-commit, after rumors of him being unhappy about potentially attending a prep academy before heading to Ann Arbor.
The Washington D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year comes in as a nice surprise, and a welcomed, late addition. Arizona will need depth at quarterback in 2018, with Rhett Rodriguez, and Brandon Dawkins’ futures undetermined. That essentially leaves just Khari Lane as the only back-up at the position behind Khalil Tate. Not an ideal situation.
Well, add Jamarye Joiner to the class as well, and this provides at least a little relief. Doyle is very much a pro-style QB, and one that should fit into Noel Mazzone’s offense well. He stands tall in the pocket, delivering some big throws. While he’s also not the fastest player by any means, he can move pretty well, giving him some versatility beyond just throwing the football.
Check out Kevin’s highlights here:
Perhaps the “prized commit” in the Class of 2018 for Arizona, Joiner comes in with plenty of hype. Easily one of the best players in the state of Arizona this past season, Joiner is electric on the football field.
Known more for his feet, Joiner does also possess a solid arm. He’s very elusive, making him nearly impossible to tackle in the backfield. He extends plays, or turns broken plays into positive ones.
Not particularly known for his arm, he does have some power in his throws, he just isn’t super accurate (57 percent completion percentage in high school). However, he should be electric in this offense, and with the help of Mazzone (a QB coach guru), look out!

A big time commit out of the super talented Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Adam Plant Jr. addresses a major position of need.
Over the past few seasons, it has been evident the Wildcats have lacked a strong pass rush. While it is always for a true freshman to make an immediate impact, Arizona desperately needs size and talent on their defensive front, and luckily for us, Adam provides both.
Should he be physically ready to jump in, he would provide immediate depth to the position.
He was a disruptive force for the Gaels this past year as a senior, totaling 52 tackles and 10 sacks according to Maxpreps. Arizona had just 28 sacks as a team last season.
Plant has solid explosiveness off the line, having a great first step. He also possess good eye discipline, with a good ability to pursue without over-running the play. He finishes well also, absolutely punishing the opposing player.
*Interestingly enough, he will join his cousin and current basketball commit Shareef O’Neal at Arizona next season.
Dayven Coleman is a nice, late surprise in the class of 2018. The safety/ linebacker combo is an impressive player possessing the perfect blend of speed, athleticism and explosiveness.
A standout player at West Mesquite High School, Coleman does a great job coming off the edge as a blitzing safety/ linebacker, possessing explosiveness that translates into big hits, where he absolutely punishes opposing players. However, perhaps his best attribute is his pursuit to the ball, seemingly never giving up on plays.
Coleman plays with a ton of heart, finding ways to just get to the football!
As a former UCLA commit, Coleman is a nice addition in the class, and one that is welcomed with open arms. He is an impressive player and should he have the opportunity to play next season, look out!
