NCAA Tournament: Are Short Shorts making a comeback?
Arizona Basketball players spent a little fun time in their locker room at the NCAA Tournament talking Short Shorts vs. Long Shorts, but it may be becoming a new trend.

As non-controversial as uniforms should be, most fans care a lot about what color and the style of their teams’ uniforms more than they should. Let’s not even start on the kicks (that’s shoes for you baby boomers). The question of the day, or the NCAA Tournament, that you may not have seen coming, short shorts or long shorts? It’s been a long time coming, fans haven’t seen short shorts since the likes of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird in the eighties.
The uniforms color is not what had the Arizona Basketball team discussing in their open locker room the day before the start of their first of hopefully many 2018 NCAA Tournament games. No, our Wildcats were discussing how they wear their shorts. And it was hilarious!
Rawle Alkins had the microphone, and he does a great job as a broadcaster we might add. Alkins started the discussion with Dylan Smith on how he likes to wear his shorts. Smith likes to wear them long, “It’s comfortable — Being comfortable is the best way to play.” Alkins went on to ask the rest of his teammates how they like to wear their shorts, and Dusan Ristic‘s response was hilarious.
Alkins likes wearing them short, that’s not a mystery, but why? “That breeze I get, I feel bouncy, and I feel good.” So who is on the Short Shorts Gang, and who is in the Long Short Gang? Gotta watch this video to find out.
The vote came out in favor of short shorts, four players on the Short Short Gang including Alkins, and two on the Long Short Gang for those interviewed.
But the Wildcats aren’t the only team on the Short Short Gang; it seems the University of Rhode Island is not far behind if not in the lead. Rhode Island just upset the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in overtime. But Twitter reacted more to how they wore their shorts.

Kevin Skiver of CBS Sports wrote a piece on the subject titled, “Let’s be honest, the Rams’ short shorts are the real winner on Thursday in an OT thriller vs. Oklahoma.” In the post he made a great point, “Guys aren’t copping out by wearing tights underneath either. They’re showing some skin.”
Good point! To combat the backlash from wearing short shorts, a lot of players play with long and medium length tights underneath their short shorts, but Rhode Island, they let it all hang out.
If this is how short shorts help Alkins play, then, by all means, wear your shorts short King Rawle.

Short or long, each player should be able to play with shorts the way they feel comfortable. It is a bold move for players to go back to shorter shorts, and I am all for it. I never understood how players could play better with shorts in their way of running, but then again, men wear different types of underwear too. No worries, we won’t go there, ha ha.
