No.5 Leon Rice (Boise State)

Coming in at No. 5 on this list is someone that has gone largely under the radar for everyone on the east coast. Leon Rice, the head coach at Boise State University, has done nothing but a terrific job there.

A former Gonzaga assistant, Rice knows how to win on the west coast. He has put Boise State basketball on the map and molded the team into a perennial contender for the Mountain west crown year in and year out. He won MWC coach of the year in 2015, the same year he helped

Boise State gets it’s first regular-season MWC title with him in charge. He is also a coach the fans could easily get behind because of how he is willing to do anything for his team. Boise State fans found out this past year how passionate he is when he promised to wade through the Boise River and ride a horse through campus in exchange for sellouts. He also has a career record of 165-96.

The one question mark seems to be the postseason, in eight seasons he’s only gotten to the NCAA tournament twice and he lost both of those games. Regardless, he’s a rising star out west that will not be at Boise for much longer.
