At 6-feet-9-inches and 215lbs, he will be a key addition to the existing front court of Ira Lee, Chase Jeter and freshman commit Thielemans. With the loss of Deandre Ayton, Dusan Ristic and Rawle Alkins, there are big spots to fill and minutes to be played for Wildcat big men. Coach Sean Miller will be looking for these four to step up big on both ends of the floor.
Luther averaged 12.7 points per game, 10.1 rebounds per game and averaged 41.5 percent from three during his four seasons a Pitt. As a big man, being able to shoot the long ball is huge especially in today’s game of college basketball. It forces opponents to guard him inside and out and opens up the possibilities for Coach Miller.
Even though Luther only played in 10 games last season due to a injury to his right foot, he had four double-doubles, including one game in which he had 16 rebounds. That’s what you call a double-double machine! For his career at Pitt, he finished with a total of 300 rebounds.
Interesting fact about Luther, during the 2016-17 season he broke the school record for the most consecutive field goals made with 15:
Luther has good court awareness and is able to position his body well to grab a lot of rebounds. He is also very skillful on the offensive end and looks very confident with his shot. Hooks, three points shots, tip ins, jump shots, layups, this guy is going to be a great addition for the Wildcats.
