The Arizona Basketball team continues its focus on off-season recruiting as the Wildcats offer a three-star forward in the Class of 2018!

Meet Parker Braun, a long, athletic forward from Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, KS. Arizona Basketball assistant Mark Phelps recently visited Braun, and liked what he saw so much, the Wildcats offered.

Standing 6-feet-8-inches and 200 pounds, these is a lot to like about Braun’s upside. As a senior, Braun drew some interest from a few programs this year including; Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Southeast Missouri and Ole Miss. The Wildcats can also join that list, officially offering Braun this past weekend.

Braun is unranked, so for star watchers, this offer probably comes as a head scratcher. Well, simply put, the Wildcats need bodies, and Braun is one that tends to intrigue me a bit.

The kid has the intangibles. Even better is that he’s not a one-and-done, something that Arizona could use more of at this point.

Sure, Braun is a bit raw, but he is best known as an emerging “stretch four”. He has great court awareness, a good shot blocking presence and the ability to knock down shots if need be.

Additionally, Braun has a high basketball IQ, with solid athleticism, he gives great effort, and possesses a defensive-mentality.

Just this past year at BVNW High School, Braun averaged 11.6 points, seven rebounds, and just over two blocks per game as a senior. Even more impressive, he shot 78 percent from the field, including 43 percent from three.

As it stands, the Wildcats have just Omar Thielemans, and Devonaire Doutrive committed in the Class of 2018. That’s also not including senior grad transfer, Ryan Luther!

Will all those additions, that essentially gives Arizona nine rotational players next season! While it’s certainly not a star-studded class like we had last year, the Wildcats won’t be devoid of talent heading into 2018-19!

Braun could fill in nicely, or he could redshirt, continue to work hard year after year, and be a solid contributor down the road. It’s way too early to be writing him off! Also wouldn’t hurt to continue to bring in talent that will be here a longer amount of time!

Take a look at Braun’s highlights!
