College basketball announcer Dick Vitale continues to go after Coach Sean Miller and the University of Arizona basketball program. It’s time it stops!

Known for his catchphrases and enthusiasm during basketball games, Dick Vitale is becoming an annoying pest for Wildcat fans. Since the FBI investigation began. Vitale has been non-stop on Twitter on his viewpoints towards Coach Sean Miller and the Arizona Wildcats basketball program. Enough! What could Vital be gaining from continuing to badger Sean Miller?

Let it go, Vitale. Whatever your angle is here, we get it! Once is enough, but over and over and over again any chance you get? Why? By the way, Wildcats fans and Arizona Athletics are still waiting for that apology for jumping the gun on that ESPN report by Mark Schlabach that had to be updated several times.

Fans are dumbfounded. Maybe its jealousy, maybe he’s upset the Wildcats beat Duke in their most recent NCAA Tournament matchup in 2011? Who the heck knows.

Another possible angle and this is a crazy one, maybe some type of bonus exists in Vitale’s contract with ESPN to attack the Wildcats? we just can’t figure out what the motivation is to continue with this what seems to be a vendetta of some kind. Or maybe ESPN management and Vitale decided he’s their most appropriate broadcaster to continue attacking and looking for punishment of Arizona’s coach and program.

In this crazy world, we live in, it would not surprise me if the ESPN is purposely turning a blind eye and or even intentionally supporting these scandal-prompting tweets Vitale posts.

Vital’s most recent tweet shows he hasn’t let it go. First, he compliments to Sean Miller’s brother Archie. Then adds a backhanded compliment to Sean. And finally, he makes another call to punishes Miller because of Emmanuel Richardson’s indictment who has yet to stand trial. Arizona Athletics has not said that Miller’s job is safe or not based on the outcome of Book’s trial, yet Vitale keeps pushing for this to be the case.

More from Wildcats Basketball

Zona Zealots contributor made a valid point in a reply to Vital’s tweet, “Except he wouldn’t need to be cleared if he is not indicted.” Vitale might want to check his facts before tweeting misinformation or unsubstantiated allegations over and over again.. Unfortunately we know that’s one thing that some who work for ESPN do not do. Other ESPN broadcasters have let it go.

If you go back and look at all of his tweets regarding Arizona, they do nothing but slander the program. This brings negativity to the program and hurts the program more when future players are weighing their options and deciding if they want to commit to Miller and his program. It just sends the wrong message and doesn’t represent Arizona Basketball very well. Recruits have to ignore all the ESPN hype.

One of the biggest Disney songs of all-time is “Let it Go.” The song inspired me to write this post.

Vitale, it’s time to LET IT GO!

With all the talk lately of fixing what’s wrong with the NCAA, they left one thing out. Even though they are not players, I think those who call college basketball games and represent the sport in some capacity should be held accountable for their actions and words. Whether it be a fine, suspension or even termination, no one should be allowed to get away with such accusations on social media like Vitale has made.

Also, with all the negative focus and attention he gives the west coast, how about he focuses on the east coast?! We all know how much Vitale loves the Duke Blue Devils, and calls for restraint when folks talk about Michigan State’s head coach Tom Izzo. Unfortunately, that will probably never happen because the ESPN HQ is on the East Coast and for many years has shown an east coast bias.

Instead of being negative all the time, how about commenting on all the positive things Coach Sean Miller has done such well? He’s done a great job recruiting under the circumstances that in part Vitale and his company put him in. He has also done tremendous things for the university since he has come to Tucson.

Let it go, Vitale, let it go!

We can always hope that an individual will change, but the likelihood of that happen with Vitale is minute. All we can do is ignore him and continue to cheer on our Wildcats. Bear Down!
