In the midst of a long off-season, the Arizona Football team secured its second commitment in the 2019 class with the addition of a punter!

Things are heating up in Tucson, and its not just the weather. On Monday evening, the Arizona Football team secured its second commit for 2019 when Phoenix-based punter Kyle Ostendorp committed to the Wildcats!

Ostendorp made his commitment known via social media.

A standout at Desert Vista High School in Phoenix, Ostendorp comes in and will immediately address a need on special teams.

This past few years, it has been no secret the Wildcats have been less than stellar in this category. In 2017, Arizona had one of the worst, ranked special teams in the country averaging just 29.39 net yards per punt.

The good thing is that there’s no where to go but up from here!

Kevin Sumlin comes to Tucson after spending the six, previous seasons at Texas A&M. Joining him is Jeremy Springer, the special teams coach who helped lead a solid group in College Station.

Just how good were they? The Aggies ranked third overall in net punting, 76th in punt return defense, 2nd in its punt return average, 90th in kick return defense, and 56th in its kick return average.

Even better is that the Wildcats also have added a nice stop gap in Dylan Klumph from Cal, who will play his final, graduate season in Tucson. Klumph has been a good punter for the Golden Bears the past few years.

While things look better for 2018, Arizona needs a longer term plan. That’s where Arizona is looking to change things!

If you have noticed, Arizona has certainly offered a number of special teams players already, and it just goes to show the sort of attention and effort the new staff is putting in to make this area a bigger focus moving forward!

So far, the addition of Ostendorp in the class of 2019 should help immensely! Standing 6-feet-2-inches, and roughly 195, he possesses great size and strength, with good athleticism as well.

Kyle has a big leg that should translate well to the next level, and could give the Wildcats an immediate impact in 2019!

According to his stats with Maxpreps, Ostendorp had 33 punts, averaging over 41 yards per punt, with a long of 60!

Check out his highlights from his junior season!
