It’s a great time to be a golf fan, especially if you’re a fan of the Arizona Women’s Golf team, as the Wildcats advance to the NCAA Finals!

A day after junior Bianca Pagdanganan made a historic Eagle that sent the Arizona Women’s Golf team to the quarter finals of the Division One Women’s Golf Championship, their magic continued into Tuesday as well.

For those who haven’t been paying attention or haven’t seen it by now, up against the ropes, Pagdanganan came up clutch to help the Wildcats survive and advance!

Now a day after knocking off Baylor in a playoff and securing a spot in the quarter finals yesterday, the Wildcats turned in another remarkable performance, this time knocking off the top-seeded UCLA Bruins, as well as conference foe Stanford to advance to the 2018 NCAA Finals!

In match-play style of the tournament, Arizona squared off with UCLA earlier in the day, and once again, it came down to Pagdanganan to come up big! Facing Patty Tavatanakit of UCLA, the match was tied heading into the 18th hole.

That’s when Pagdanganan put herself in great position, ultimately birding the hole, while Tavatanakit would settle for a par, giving the Arizona the match, and sealing a 3-2 victory versus UCLA.

That would lead to a semi-final showdown versus Stanford, In order to win, the Wildcats were going to need a strong performance to knock off the Cardinal and advance to the schools’ first NCAA Finals appearance since 2000.

Arizona took control from the onset, and never looked back. First it was Arizona’s Gigi Stoll who won her first match five and three. Then it was Sandra Nordaas who would dominate from start to finish, winning in convincing fashion  by a six and four final.

However, it was Wildcat junior Haley Moore who would win the clinching point though, as she defeated Stanford’s Mika Liu by a three and two final. Pagdanganan would also win her match as well, but the Wildcats had already defeated Stanford, eventually cruising to the 4-1 victory.

With the victory, the Wildcats will now advance to the NCAA Championship, in just the schools’ second appearance in match play since the NCAA changed the tournaments’ format in 2015. A Pac-12 team has won it every year since then!

Arizona’s dream run will continue tomorrow as they will battle against Alabama for the schools third championship in program history!
