Arizona Basketball graduate Dusan Ristic looks to take his skills to the next level and play in the NBA

Arizona Basketball big man Dusan Ristic will always love Tucson and Tucson will always love Dusan. The time has come for college basketball athletes to test their skills and see if they have a future in the NBA. The NBA draft is fastly approaching, but the reality of becoming a professional finally comes to fruition for a select few.

More from Cats in the Pros

Dusan built quite the legacy while playing for the Arizona Wildcats Basketball program. He threw down highlight-reel dunks but he made it look so easy it was almost assumed it was easy. He still had to get to the basket! Dusan’s senior year was impressive. He improved his low post footwork and proved he was a leader and is passionate about playing the game of basketball.

On top of that, he is a college graduate that spent four years in college refining his craft each and every year. Now the NBA doesn’t always value “older” players who have four years of experience under their belt, but they should. Ristic did not get invited to the NBA Combine but he did get invited to play in the Portsmouth Invitational and in his second game, he proved to NBA teams they should take a second look.

It is no coincidence that Dusan left Arizona as the winningest player in program history with 115 wins. Let that sink in for a second, as all other Wildcat greats race across your mind. Dusan look to carry the same winning mentality into the NBA. Wildcat fans everywhere got some exciting news the other days. As the Sacramento Kings gave Dusan a few pre-NBA draft workouts.

Dusan, no doubt could provide some height to the Kings roster as 7-foot post players are hard to come by. The Kings also have to be impressed with Dusan as he averaged 12 points and six rebounds a game his senior year along with earning eight double-doubles alongside Deandre Ayton. Dus interviews very well, and he is mature and humble off the court and can be a firey Leader and a beast on the court.

After his work out with the Kings, Dusan was invited to Los Angeles to play in front of the likes of Magic Johnson as he looks to impress the Lakers next. Ristic is a shoe-in for a two-way contract if not drafted. And, like Chance Comanche, he should be able to pick the team he wants to play for as a free agent.  No matter what happens, we are assured of two things. First, Dusan is a Wildcat for life and a graduate of the 2018 class. And Second, Tucson loves Dusan. He will always have a special place in our hearts.
