Former Arizona Baseball star pitcher Scott Kingery made his return to Arizona, this time in a Philadelphia  Phillies uniform.

Chase Field, a place that is usually filled with Sedona Red with fans taking their seats to cheer on their hometown Diamondbacks had a different feel last week. Walking around the ballpark, there seemed to be an increased amount of shirts that sported the red and blue block /A\ across their chests This was all in support of former UA baseball Alum, Scott Kingery made his return to the valley of the sun.

Scott Kingery has his roots deeply planted in Arizona as he attended Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix. During his senior year in high school, Scott swung a hot bat to a tune of a .385 batting average along with 36 RBI’s and eight home runs. This outstanding performance earned him the honors of Second Team All American his senior year.

Due to the amount of damage he was doing at the plate, Scott quickly caught the eye of the coaching staff at the University of Arizona. Eventually, the hot pursuit by the coaches at Arizona led to Scott committing to the Wildcats.

He would make the most of his time down in Tucson as he led by example on and off the field and quickly became a fan favorite of the loyal fan base of Arizona Baseball. At the conclusion of his career as a Wildcat, he had a .351 batting average with six homers and 80 RBI’s. All while showing his slick glove both in the indeed and outfield.

His ability to play multiple positions and the ability to drive the ball into the gaps caught the eye of many MLB teams. In 2015, Scott had his dreams come true when he was selected in the second round by the Philadelphia Phillies with the 48th overall pick.

This year, Scott has done his fair share to contribute to a team that is competing for the chance to play baseball in October. As of right now, the Phillies are two games behind the Atlanta Braves in the National League East.

The good news is that the Phillies now hold the second Wild Card spot with a one-game lead over the St, Louis Cardinals. He has a .223 batting average with five homers and 30 RBI’s as he continues to impress the coaching staff of the Phillies with ultimate determination and relentless love for the game of baseball.
