Arizona Wildcat fan favorite and Chicago Bull two-way player Rawle Alkins came back to Tucson to promote his new Savage Life clothing line and meet his fans.
August 25, 2018. That will be a day I will never forget. That’s because I had the incredible honor of meeting one of the nicest people, who happens to be now playing for the Chicago Bulls and is a Wildcat fan favorite. I am talking about Rawle Alkins. King Rawle aka Glue Guy aka Mr. Versatile aka Mr. Savagelife aka Mr. All Smiles.
Since Alkins stepped onto McKale Center and performed “the dunk” over Coach Sean Miller in the red and blue game dunk contest back in 2016, I have been a fan. During his four years at Arizona everything he did, from dunks, blocks, three-pointers, coming back from injury, and then coming back to play one more year at Arizona after his junior year, he quickly became a fan favorite.
For me personally, Alkins deciding to come back one more year after testing the waters in the NBA Combine and realizing there were things he needed to work on was what made me a fan, a HUGE fan. Not a lot of college players in today’s game make the right decision and come back to player another year of college. Alkins didn’t hire an agent, which helped him make the decision to stay one more year.
After leaving after his junior season Alkins didn’t get drafted which was a huge shock to a lot of people. But that didn’t stop him from putting in the work, getting to play and showing up really well for the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Summer League. His heroic play in a playoff game along with last years pro workout with the Chicago Bulls earned him a two-way contract next season. He will be joining former Wildcat Lauri Markkanen next season, what a duo that will be!

In addition to his basketball career, which is just taking off, Alkins was in Tucson last weekend to promote his new Savage Life clothing line at the Arizona Wildcats store in the Tucson Mall. Fans had the opportunity to meet Alkins, take a picture with him and purchase Savage Life t-shirts, tank tops, and sweatshirts.
I arrived around 4:15 pm to stand in line outside the store. When I got there I was about 14th in line and as it closer to 5:00 pm, more and more fans to started to show up. I would estimate there were about 150 or so fans that showed up to take pictures and more with the former Wildcat. The store personnel started letting fans in five fans at a time and before I knew it, there was Alkins right in front of me!
Not going to lie, was nervous as I was meeting Rawle freakin Akins, Mr. Savagelife himself! He made me feel very comfortable and at ease with his smile and how nice he was. We talked for a little bit and then I got my picture taken. I finally congratulated him on his success and urged him to keep on doing what he is doing. Of course after meeting him I had to get myself and the Site Expert of Zona Zealots Shereen Rayan Savagelife t-shirts!
As I was waiting to pay for my t-shirts, I noticed how friendly Alkins was with everyone that was interacting with him. He couldn’t stop smiling! It was very obvious how much he loves his fans and how much his fans love him. How can you not love this guy? He’s got the whole package as they would say!
Here he is talking to KGUN9 about how excited he is for tthe release of his Savage Life clothing line and becoming a Chicago Bull
