Ballislife recently released a Day In The Life of Gabe York, as he gets ready for training camp with the Orlando Magic.
At 25 years of age, former Arizona Wildcat Gabe York has had quite the basketball journey. From going to be one of the top players in high school in 2012, then playing limited minutes early on with the Wildcats to starting. York did not get drafted in the NBA, so he went to play in the NBA D League for Erie BayHawks for one season and then playing overseas for the German team Medi Bayreuth. All of that has led to an opportunity for York to participate in the Orlando Magic training camp.
Gabe York signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Orlando Magic. This news came off the heels of a fantastic Ballislife expose on York.
At the beginning of the Ballislife feature, York talks about his journey from high school to Arizona and how it was not what he expected at all. He was one of the top players in high school 2012 and was recognized as one of the most exciting players to watch with his ridiculous above the rim dunks. York even played in the 2012 Ballislife All-American Game, alongside the like of Glen Robinson III and Jordan Loveridge.

He was expecting to transition to college and show off his talent, that was not the case. York only averaged 5.8 minutes per game his freshman game. It wasn’t until his senior year that he finally got to display his skills, starting in all 34 games played, he averaged 33.3 minutes per game, shot 40.3% from 3-point range and 15 points per game. Even though he was given more playing time his senior year at Arizona, York expressed that it wasn’t enough for him.
As the Day In The Life continues, York goes through his workout routine that includes 1 ½ hours of shooting drills and then dribbling drills at the end of the day. It’s very clear how much effort and focus he puts into his workouts, wanting to be a better player day in and day out, always striving to put himself in the best position to succeed at the next level.
In between each set of drills, he goes back home to give a tour. York talks about how much he enjoys revisiting the basketball court in the backyard and how much it means to him because it’s where his journey began. I think everyone can relate to that, to have that “special” place you can always go back and visit to bring back those special memories.
As the video concludes, he visits the Ballislife headquarters, and checks out their “swag” area, making sure to get one of everything! Gotta make sure you look fly when you are out their ballin!
