Arizona Football (0-2) faces a must win situation versus Southern Utah (0-2), and as the Wildcats prepare, here is what we suggest to watch for this week!

It’s an important weekend for Arizona Football. The Wildcats have unexpectedly stumbled out of the gates and now risk going 0-3 if they are unable to take care of business this weekend against FCS foe, Southern Utah.

While Arizona has never really been a big time football program, one thing we are not familiar with is starting the season off 0-2. The last time that happened was in 1981, when Larry Smith lost the two opening games with the Wildcats to UCLA and Cal respectively. Smith would then guide the Wildcats to a 6-5 record overall that year.

It’s certainly fair to say that we are in unfamiliar territory to say the least, however, this weekend could be a great start to fix and perfect some things, as well as perhaps gain some confidence for this young team also!

Now that’s not to write off the Thunderbirds, after all, this is a program that’s typically one of the better ones out of the Big Sky Conference, and went to the FCS Playoffs last season. Also, the Wildcats have been out of sorts, and there is seemingly no guarantees this year.

Nonetheless, Southern Utah should be inferior in size and overall talent, and are 0-2 after being pummeled by Oregon State last weekend.

With that said, here are the five things the team and fans should focus on with this team this weekend. These will be crucial areas for the Wildcats if they are to make some dramatic improvements for the remainder of the year.
