It was about time we got to celebrate an Arizona Basketball alum. King Rawle Alkins performance in the NBA G-League and it was one to remember!!

With Tyler Ulis out on injury and all the Bulls playing up in the NBA due to major holes in the roster with Denzel Valentine, Lauri Markkanen, Bobby Portis and Kris Dunn (4-6 weeks) on the bench recuperating, former Arizona Basketball fan favorite Rawle Alkins stepped up on the road. The Windy City Bulls took on the Grand Rapids Drive (Detroit Pistons affiliate) in the third of four games on the road.

Windy City was in need of a win and an exciting game and they got both with Alkins at the helm. Usually playing the two or three position, Alkins showed he can be very effective at the one. He passes the ball out a lot more than his teammate Ulis.

Alkins was the lone two-way player and he finally got minutes to prove his worth. The former Wildcat started and played 31 minutes. He was extremely efficient shooting 67% on 12-18 FG’s and 80% from three (4-5). Add to that eight rebounds and four assists ending the game with a +9 and at one time was a +17 during the game. He logged career highs in points, assists & field goals.

More from Cats in the Pros

Alkins had a rough start in game one, but he has really come into his own in the G-League. This career-high game came in the first of a back-to-back. His highlights were plastered all over the internet. Among the highlight were a couple of monster dunks, three-point shots, and putbacks. Alkins is looking strongest when the ball is in his hands. He makes some great passes but unfortunately for most of the past games, his teammates are missing their shots.

What was most impressive was that not only was this a fantastic game for Alkins, he took control against a team who had three Pistons (Khyri Thomas, Bruce Brown and Henry Ellenson) and two 2-way players (Zach Lofton and Kennan Evans) and he was the lone 2-way player on the Windy City team with no borrowed Bulls.

Here are King Rawle’s highlights, enjoy:

Alkins followed up with a 10-point, 6-rebound, 3 assist and one-steal performance against the Wisconsin Herd on Saturday night in the second of a back-to-back road game. Although not as impressive as Friday night, Alkins rebounds and a three-pointer in the fourth quarter were key to the Bulls second straight win on the road. Savage.
