Three Arizona Football seniors have been invited to pre-NFL Draft showcase game to be able to show scouts why they deserve to be drafted.

On January 19, 2019, in the famous Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena California, Arizona Football grads Shun Brown and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles will represent the Wildcats in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl and wide receiver Shawn Poindexter will represent in the East-West Shrine Game.

The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is a “premier postseason all-star game.” Only draft-eligible college football players are eligible. Not only a game, but the whole experience also lasts for a week. Unfortunately, Southern California was hit with multiple rain storms this week, but we are sure the players don’t even care.

The players get a chance to showcase their game in front of NFL scouts and coaches while “Learning from the best in the business” according to the bowl website. The objective of this Collegiate Bowl is to prepare players for the business side of professional football and also the “speed and intensity” involved in the sport.

Last year’s bowl included former Arizona Football offensive tackle Gerhard de Beer, currently listed on the Green Bay Packers roster after signing to their practice squad in November.

This years Arizona Football players invited will be wide receiver Shun Brown who will play on the American Team roster and safety Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles who will play against him on the National Team roster.

UPDATE 1/17/19: Layth Friekh has been added to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl per Arizona Football.

The game starts at 3 pm (MST) this Saturday and will be shown on Fox Sports 1 (FS1). On the same day, former teammate Shawn Poindexter will be playing at 1 pm (MST) in the East-West Shrine Game on the East Coast in Florida (St. Petersburg) shown on the NFL Network. The Shrine game produced close to ten draft picks for the NFL in 2018. The sleeper from the 2018 game was Denver Bronco’s undrafted signee Phillip Lindsay who became a breakout star as he rushed for 1,037 yards. Lindsay also made the Pro Bowl as a rookie.

As always we wish the best of success for Shawn, Shun, and Demetrius in the upcoming showcases and beyond. Bear Down!
