As Arizona Basketball put together a gritty performance to defeat Oregon State at home yesterday, senior guard Justin Coleman reached a huge milestone.

There are certain accomplishments that are team driven and ones that are personally driven, and sometimes those accomplishments can go hand in hand and help each other out. This would be the case for Justin Coleman who scored his 1,000th point during a critical win over Oregon State on Saturday Night.

Coleman is man on a mission when it comes to his basketball career. This was seen before he decided to transfer to the University of Arizona. While at the Samford University, he was named second team all conference during the 2017-2018 season. During that time, he averaged 13 points and six assists a game.

Then came a life changing decision in which he decided to take his talents to Tucson to become a Wildcat at the University of Arizona.

Under the direction of Sean Miller, he and his staff tasked Justin Coleman with leading a team that is unproven, but at the same time hungry to prove that they are still a power to be reckon with. There is only one way to do that, and it is to lead by example and Coleman has done just that.

After suffering a heart-breaking loss to the University of Oregon Ducks at home, it was up to Coleman and others to make sure it didn’t happen twice in the same week.

Not only did just Coleman do just that by beating the Beavers, but he also reached a personal milestone by scoring his 1,000th point in his college basketball career.

This milestone was huge when it comes to what it means to a basketball player and his career in college. But for Justin, it meant a little more as it was the same day as his aunt birthday who passed away in Novemeber. We all know Justin that your aunt was there in spirit to cheer you on and could not be happier for you.

Miller also sung the praises of his senior point guard in the post game press conference as coach went on to say that no-one loves the game of basketball more than him . Oh man, does it show every time Coleman takes the floor for the Wildcats. His passion and love is the driving force behind a 5-1 record in the PAC-12 and a 14-5 record overall.

Congrats Justin! From all Wildcat fans everywhere and us at ZonaZealots, we are all super proud of you! We are super grateful that you choose to become a Wildcat and exemplify what it means to “Bear Down” in every way possible. As always, GO CATS!
