Arizona Basketball: 2019-20 commit Zeke Nnaji named as Minnesota Mr. Basketball finalist
By David Rosen
2019-20 Arizona Wildcat commit four star commit Zeke Nnaji has been named as Minnesota Mr. Basketball finalist. Let’s find out why.
The 2018-19 season is not quite over yet, but it’s never too early to look ahead to the 2019-20 season. Zeke Nnaji, a four-star recruit, made his commitment to the Arizona Wildcats last November. Since his announcement, he has been making quite the name for himself in the state of Minnesota. As a result of effort, he has been named as one of five finalist for Mr. Minnesota Basketball.
According to 24/7 Sports, Nnaji is the second ranked player in the state of Minnesota. The other four that made the list are Isaac Fink, Matthew Hurt, Tyrell Terry, and Tyler Wahl. The state of Minnesota state has produced some high quality athletes, including last year’s winner Tre Jones, who now plays for the Duke Blue Devils.
Listed as a power forward at 6 foot 11 and 215 pounds, Nnaji handles the ball well and is versatile on both ends of the floor. He will fit in well into the team next season due to the lack of depth and size the Wildcats have in the frontcourt. With the other highly talented recruits coming next season to Arizona, this team will be well balanced inside and out.

Nnjai currently plays at Hopskins High School in Minnesota. This season he is averaging 24.6 points per game. He has had four 30+ point games and has had one game this season in which he scored 41 points.
When watching highlights of him play, what stands out more then anything is his competitiveness. Reminds me a little bit of Ira Lee when it comes to expressing his passion on the court. Plus, his long wingspan helps him grab rebounds easily as well as blocking shots.
Should be very interesting to see how he does at the college level. He honestly may need to put on a little bit more muscle, but besides that Nnaji should have no problem making the transition to college basketball. How many minutes will he be getting at Arizona? That’s a good question, and depends on the amount of effort he puts and shows the coaching staff he deserves to be out on the floor.
The winner of the Minnesota Mr. Basketball award will be announced on March. 26th. Whether he wins or not, Nnaji will have an immediate impact at Arizona. His style of play on the court speaks for itself and Wildcat fans look forward to every minute of it.
At Zona Zealots, we would like to congratulate Zeke Nnaji on been named a finalist for Minnesota Mr. Basketball finalist. It’s great to see Wildcat commits being recognized as one of the top players in their home state. Bear Down, Arizona!
