Arizona Basketball: Chase Jeter named to Pac-12 All Academic Team
By David Rosen
Arizona Wildcat redshirt junior Chase Jeter was named to the Pac-12 All Academic Team.
All around student athlete. The Arizona Wildcat basketball programs not only produces talent on the court, but also in the classroom. Redshirt junior Chase Jeter was named to the Pac-12 All Academic Team for his efforts this past academic season. Being able to balance between school and Divison I college basketball is no easy task. Much respect to Chase!
Currently Jeter already previously graduated back in December with a degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences and Human Understanding. That has not stopped him from getting a high GPA as a graduate student. Jeter finished this past season with a GPA of 3.54. Great to see him being rewarded for the hard work he has put in.
Being a prior student myself at the University of Arizona, it was hard enough just being a student and getting high grades. I couldn’t even imagine what it’s like to focus on getting good grades, but at the same time switching gears and focus on performing at a high level as a basketball player at Arizona. Says a lot about who Jeter is as an individual. Also, he was recognized by his teammates as being selected as co-captain of this year’s team.

Not a lot of credit is given to student athletes. People take for granted that these players just take the easy route in selecting a major that does not require lots of work. Yes, that might be the case for some, but in the case of Jeter it wasn’t.
Another factor that needs to be taken into account, is that Jeter transferred from Duke University to the University of Arizona. Making that transition into a completely new educational and athletic setting does take sometime to adjust. He was though able to adjust well enough to earn good grades and the playing time on the court.
This season for Jeter as an athlete, has been a challenging one to say the least. From multiple injuries, to being one the key players in the starting rotation and filling that void in the frontcourt, he has had to deal with lots of ups and downs.
In 29 games played this season, Jeter has averaged 11.1 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game and has shot 58.9% from the field. He did have to miss two games this season, against USC and UCLA, due to a lower back strain injury he suffered against the Oregon State Beavers. Ironically enough, when the Wildcats faced the Beavers again on the road, Tres Tinkle, who was the same player you injured Jeter in the first matchup of the season, collided with Jeter again and caused him to have knee bone bruise. That limited his effectiveness for the rest of the season.
Jeter has had though some memorable moments this past regular season and had many dunks as well, including this one:
