Arizona Basketball commit and Kentucky Wildcats transfer, Jemarl Baker, will fit in perfectly into the Wildcats roster during the 2020-21 season.

A large part of recruiting is getting recruits that fit into the coach’s system. Over the past two seasons, Wildcat fans have seen a change in the approach of head coach Sean Miller. His focus has been more of a guard oriented offense. This is one of the main reasons why Jemarl Baker will be a great fit for Arizona basketball.

When the Wildcats landed Baker many experts said that the Wildcats got one of the top transfers on the market. Even though he did not receive much playing time while at Kentucky, his skillset on both ends of the floor will provide Coach Miller additional depth at the guard position.

At Kentucky, Baker averaged 2.3 points a game while shooting 33% from the field and 31% frrom behind the line. A former four-star recruit out of San Diego, he was offered by many other schools including Arizona State, but choose wisely when he committed to the Arizona Wildcats.

Baker has the ability to shoot the ball from all ranges, making him difficult to guard. Defenders will have to respect his shot when he is out on the floor. Will be interesting to see how he is utilized by Coach Sean Miller.

Typically when a player like Baker doesn’t get a lot of playing time, he has a lot to prove when he transfers to another school. This will certainly be the case with Baker, but will have to wait a year because he is redshirting. Baker will though have the luxury of sitting on the sidelines and practice with the team, preparing him for the following season.

With defenders not wanting to range to far away from Baker, it will creating driving lanes for his teammates. Leading to easy lay ups or maybe even a kick out back to Baker for a silky smooth jumper or a pump fake a drive to the basket.

Not only can he shoot the ball at a high percentage, but he can also pass the ball. He has great court vision and will be able to find open teammates while in transition or while running the half court offense.

Arizona Wildcat fans, Baker will be a player that is easy to root for during the 2019-20. There is no doubt that he will provide many exciting highlights for Wildcat to enjoy. As always Bear Down and Go Cats!
